Marlene's Diary

Choosing Day

Hi.

It's Marlene here. Sorry, I'm crap at diaries, so I'm just gonna get started. I know this is a really erudite thing to do, writing a diary but Mum wrote one when she was little. She really loves looking back on it and I think it's really cool.

Mines not gonna be anything like as cool but I think I should try. I thought now would be a good time to start: initiation.

I was thinking about starting it yesterday to tell you about my choice, etc. but it's not a choice. I'm dauntless through and through and I'm never gonna change.

So, you know my choice. After the ceremony we charged down the stairs and hopped on the train. We jumped onto the roof, which the transfers found hard enough. The next thing was the real challenge. Shauna told Lynn and I that it was something to do with heights, but given that we were on a seven-story building, that wasn't exactly surprising.

So, anyway, we had to jump of. Yeah! The 'proper' dauntless compound was below. And if you think that's crazy, guess what? A stiff jumped first. Yeah, a stiff! I mean, a stiff becoming dauntless is one thing, but first jumper?

Her name's Tris. Don't know anything about her but she seems cool

Jumping was scary as hell but it was actually well fun. Like I'd do it again, given a chance. Uri, on the other hand, screamed like a girl. I'm never going to stop teasing him.

Then the newbies got a tour and the rest of us hung out in our dorm. Most of them went down to the pit after a while. Speaking of which I'm gonna go meet up with Uri and Lynn now. We're gonna go get tattoos. None of us have had one before and I'm kinda nervous. I dunno what to get, either? I want something girly but badass and I'm really unsure. Anyway I better go now, I'll write again soon. Hopefully.

Stay Brave,

Marlene.
