Belle lay on the couch with her head in Ruby's lap. Her curly brown hair cascaded off of Ruby's knees as she shifted her head to look up at Ruby over the book she was reading aloud. Ruby felt her head move and paused to look down and smile.
"Don't stop," Belle protested, reaching up to lightly push the book back up in Ruby's face. Ruby's shoulders shook a little in a silent laugh that still hung in the air when she began to read again, dropping her right hand to run her fingers gently through Belle's curls. Ruby finished the chapter before closing the book and setting it aside to look down at Belle's content smile, which widened when Ruby returned to stroking her soft hair. "Mmm, that feels nice," Belle sighed. "What time is it?"
"Late," Ruby replied glancing over at the clock. It was warm on the couch, and Ruby was comfortable but it was getting late and they should go to sleep soon. "We should go to bed," she added looking back down at Belle whose eyes were closed.
Belle's smile widened at she opened her eyes to ask, "Are you trying to seduce me?" She pushed herself up into Ruby's lap, brushing her nose against Ruby's.
"Now, I thought that was what happened earlier," Ruby said, stealing a kiss from Belle's soft lips. Belle laughed, smiling before kissing her back. They sat entwined on the couch for a few minutes before Belle broke the kiss and pulled away.
"Come on," Belle said, grabbing the book from the end table and standing up. "If you're good I'll read you a chapter," she said, turning to walk backwards, smiling at Ruby as she spoke. "And if you're bad I won't read to you at all."
Ruby grinned wolfishly, suddenly not as tired as she had been a few minutes ago and jumped up from the couch to chase Belle into the bedroom. Belle yelped, laughing as Ruby tackled her into the bed, dropping the book to the floor as they wrestled around on the bed. They rolled over a few times before Ruby managed to pin Belle down. Ruby kissed her gently. "I love you," she whispered softly, pulling back to look at Belle and smiling.
"I love you too," Belle replied, pulling her back down into her arms. When they were together nothing else mattered, Ruby was the other half to Belle's soul, the true love everyone from their land searched for, and here she was in her arms. Belle kissed her one more time before saying, "Happy Valentine's Day," and pulling Ruby's clothes off for the second time that night.
