A Little Prince

312 words

The Queen sat in his Treasury room, trying to calm his nerves with a cup of hot berry tea. Even with the soothing effect of the tea, his cup still rattled softly against the saucer, for his mind had made itself up after talking with his newly engaged history professor.

He did not have to wait long to dictate his decision, for shortly after taking the last sip of tea a sly figure sauntered into the Treasury and plopped down onto the couch. The King smiled up at the Queen with his trademark lazy grin. "Yo, Kaoru-chan. You upset about something?" The question took the Queen off guard, for he had forgotten the King knew his tea remedies now as much as he did. "N-no…I just realized something…" That piqued the King's interest, and elicited a bit of fear to flicker past his face. "Oh? What is it, Kaoru-chan?" The King moved from the couch to wrap his arms around the Queen's shoulders.

"It's about…children." The King tensed slightly, but smiled softly and held the Queen closer. "It's alright, Kaoru-chan. I'm not going to force you into that situation, because I care about you more than a family." The Queen smiled and caressed one of the King's forearms gently. "I was just thinking…wouldn't it be nice to have a little prince?" The King was absolutely speechless, and clutched the Queen tighter. "Do-do you mean it, Kaoru-chan?" The Queen then kissed his arm softly before reclining in the King's touch. "I am, and I think it would be wonderful to have a little prince that had your good nature and my wonderful fashion sense to raise…together."

A great laugh escaped the King's lips, and in the next moment he had picked up the Queen to twirl him around in midair before kissing him soundly on the lips. "I love you, Kaoru-chan…and thank you."
