IMPORTANT NOTE AT THE END AND PLEASE READ IT IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING COMMENTING SOMETHING OR HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STORY!!!!
By the way this is my first attempt at posting so please take that into consideration somewhat
~oOo~
I didn't exactly want to go back to camp this summer. All it was, was spending 8 weeks in the woods in cabins, eating mystery meat from the main cabin and getting weird bites that can't be explained.
This year, I assumed, would be different. Or at least I hoped so. I was a counselor for once, now at the age of 17, and would be over the campers instead of with them.
My phone dinged, and I reached from my cozy spot in bed to check it. It was Alice, which somehow wasn't surprising that she was texting me at nearly 6 in the morning.
r u getting ready 4 camp???!!!!!
I rolled my eyes and typed out a quick reply.
bout to be, hold your horses. we have 3 hours before we need to be on the road.
I got up, figuring I may as well start getting ready. It was about a 2-hour drive to the campsite, and the counselors had to be there at lunchtime and had until 5 that night to have everything set up before the kids got there. From there, they would assign the kids to their cabins, had 2 hours to get to know everybody in there, and would head on out to the main cabin to talk about extra rules and everything, they would have a big campfire and be back to the cabins by 10 for lights out.
The first day was always very carefully planned out, trying to give the kids the idea of camp in the 5 hours they had that night.
I went over to my closet and pulled out a large black suitcase, and grabbed my Kavu to carry around camp for when we went out. I already had most of my clothes picked out, in a variety of t-shirts, shorts, blue jeans, thin long sleeve shirts, as well as jackets and swimsuits for when we went to the lake or it got cold.
All I could fit in the big suitcase was clothes, along with a toiletry bag packed in the front zip up pocket. I grabbed a black trash bag and put blankets and pillows in it, and threw in a few towels.
I put on a pair of black blue jean shorts that went just past mid-thigh, and a tie die t-shirt that I had to tie at the bottom because it fell to midthigh.
I checked the time and noticed I still had about an hour before I had to leave. Groaning, I plopped down onto my bed, wishing I would have taken my time to get things together so I wouldn't be bored.
Almost as if on cue, my phone started ringing. I picked it up and put it to my ear.
"Hello?" I asked, not recognizing the unknown contact.
"Isabella Swan?" a smooth, velvet voice asked, my name coming easily out of his mouth.
"Speaking," I said after a moment of silence, blushing for no apparent reason.
The guy chuckled quietly as if he knew what he had done to me, but I could hear something else, nervousness maybe?
"This is Edward Cullen. Mr. Dwyer gave me your number. I'm over the cabin with you." he said.
The camp separated the boys and girls who were 13 and older, however, 12 and under, there would be 6 boys and 6 girls in each cabin, and 2 separate bathrooms for each gender.
"Oh, okay. Thank you for calling." I said although I was a bit confused that he had done so.
"I just wanted to call really quick so we had each other's numbers in case we needed to contact the other in case of an emergency," he said, answering my unspoken question.
I nodded as if he could see me, "Okay, thank you, Mr. Cullen. I will save your number in my phone." I said.
"No problem, Ms. Swan," he said kindly, and with a slight other emotion in his voice.
We hung up and I put my phone by my side, just as it dinged. With a slight groan, I checked it, seeing Alice had texted me.
u ready?? if u are, I wanna go.
With a sigh, I texted back.
Yeah, gimme 10 minutes to get there.
My parents were gone for the day, they had left for work at 5 this morning and I hadn't got the chance to say goodbye.
I jumped as a horn blew from my driveway, and looked through my window to see Alice sitting in her car, smiling widely at my window. She had planned this out. I grabbed my bags and walked out to the front door, and Alice was already waiting with her backdoor opened to pack everything up.
"Alice, how much did you bring?" I asked when I saw her backseat. She had 2 large suitcases, a small one, and 2 bags.
"Oh, hush. 1 of the big suitcases is extra stuff for kids and so is a bag," she said.
I nodded, somewhat surprised they weren't all hers, but hey, what do I know?
She helped me get my stuff inside the car and I got in the passenger seat.
"Get ready for 2 hours of fun!" she said excitedly.
I could help but laugh at how excited she was over this. She had been talking about it for weeks.
"Heres the list of counselors and the arrangement. We didn't get the list of campers, but that will be at the campsite. I scanned my eyes over the names.
Bear Cabin A (ages 5-7): Alice Mary, Jasper Whitlock
Deer Cabin (ages 8-10): Rosalie Hale, Emmet Cullen
Wolf Cabin (ages 11-12): Isabella Swan, Edward Cullen
Those were considered the younger cabins and would be on the opposite side of camp than the others.
Typically the two sides of camp never collided. They had their own thing to do and they did it. The only time they would be around each other was meals and instruction time.
The drive seemed longer than it probably was. With Alice talking about camp and the country music she selected, I just wanted to be there.
A looked up when I noticed the road was bumpier and saw that she was pulling up into the long rocky dirt road that led to the small parking lot where counselors parked and kids were picked up and dropped off.
I saw 2 cars there already. A black jeep and a red BMW. There was a woman by it, wearing a light blue shirt that looked a bit fancy for the woods but not very, and loose blue jeans. she seemed to be getting her stuff out of the car.
Alice pulled in beside her, and she looked over at us with a smile. I climbed out, right beside her.
"Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Rosalie." she said, reaching for my hand. She was beautiful, and all of it was natural. She wore no makeup, and her blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail that went well past her midback. I suddenly felt very small next to her.
"Nice to meet you too," I said, smiling back and shaking her hand.
"Hi, I'm Alice," Alice said, her trademark greeting falling easily out of her mouth.
The woman's blue eyes lit up and she chuckled, "Hi Alice." she said, seeming to enjoy Alices energy.
"Whose car is that?" I asked, motioning to the black jeep that was parked across the lot.
Rosalie looked at it and shrugged, "I don't know. It was here when I got here about 5 minutes ago. I guess they went to see the cabin." she said.
I nodded and looked over at Alice, noticing she was gone. "Oh, no," I muttered, before noticing she was grabbing our bags out of the car.
She handed me my bags, "Let's go on ahead and take our stuff to the cabins. We can meet back up soon," she said.
I nodded, and slung my kavu over my shoulder and pulled the handle out of the suitcase before making my way down the thin dirt road with a wooden sign that said "wolf cabin."
The scenery was nice, the trees were packed tightly everywhere and created a small dome overhead and I could hear water not too far from the pathway.
The walk was short, 5 minutes, and the cabin looked nice. The wood was obviously a bit older but looked sturdy. There was a small front porch, and the stairs led straight to the front door.
I opened the door, wincing at the high pitched squeaking sound it made as it moved.
I flicked the light on and looked around. The main room wasn't very large, but it was big enough to stay in. There were 6 bunk beds, 3 along each side, and I knew it was to separate the girls and boys. There were 2 doors across the room, one labeled girls and the other, boys. And 2 twin beds about a foot apart, for what I assumed was for me and Edward.
I laid my bags down on the bed closest to the door labeled girls.
I jumped as the door to the cabin creaked and stared in fear as it opened slowly. I was a bit relieved to see a guy, maybe around 18 or 19, standing in the opening but somewhat still scared.
The man, though, was handsome. He had bronze looking hair with blonde looking strands here and there, and his hair stood up every which way.
His face was angular, his jawline sharp but still soft somehow. His nose was straight, and his lips curved into a soft smile when his bright green eyes met mine.
"You must be Isabella," he said, his voice sounding so much more smoothe then over the phone.
I hurried to collect myself, "B-Bella." I corrected, stumbling over my words.
He smiled, "I'm Edward." he said.
I nodded and looked around the room a bit more.
"I don't know how the room set up will work," I said.
He laid his stuff on the bed near mine and looked around, opening the door labeled boys. It appeared to be a shower and bathroom, with 3 stalls on each side, one assumably toilets and the other showers, along with 2 sinks and a large mirror on the wall across from the door.
I opened the girls and it was exactly the same.
"The others said to be back in about an hour to meet up," Edward said.
I nodded, the amount of time was reasonable enough to me.
I grabbed my bags off my bed and started taking my bedsheets out, as Edward did the same.
"So tell me a little about yourself," he said, looking up at me from his work.
"Well, I'm 17. I'm from Arizona and moved here when I was 7 with my parents. What about you?" I asked.
"I'm 19. Born and raised here," he said.
I smiled.
"Why did you all move... if you don't mind me asking," he said.
"I don't mind. My grandfather wasn't doing so well and we wanted to be around him while we could."
He nodded, seeming to take in every word carefully. I then realized I hadn't started fixing the bed, so I busied myself with that. My bedsheets were simple. Black cotton with an extra pillow and thick comforter. Edwards was light grey and looked a lot like mine.
We got done soon and I yawned. He chuckled lightly and I felt my face heat up. "Sleepy?" he asked.
I shrugged. "I was up late and had to get up early this morning so yeah, a bit."
He nodded and looked around. "We need to enjoy this while it lasts. Soon there will be 12 screaming kids filling in those places."
"Have you been a counselor before?" I asked.
"No. But I did go to this camp ever since I was 7. Haven't been since I was 15. What about you?" he asked.
I stared at him for a minute, trying to see if there was anything on his face that was familiar but saw nothing. "I've been every year since I was 8. I'm seeing if you look familiar but I don't think you do." I said.
He frowned and looked at me for a second. "I don't think I remember you from anything."
I chuckled, "It's kind of weird to think that we've met before this."
He smiled and sat on his bed. "I miss being a kid here. It seems like it was almost yesterday when I and my friends were throwing a silly string on the counselors while the slept," he said.
I laughed, "Don't jinx us. We'll end up with the bad kids."
He chuckled lightly. "Nah. I think my group was just rowdy then—10 years old, I believe," he said.
"Ah. Yeah, I have a 10-year-old little brother but he lives with my mom." I said.
"Your parents are divorced?" he asked.
"Yeah. I live with my dad and stepmom, but my mom lives about half an hour away. They split up a few months after we moved." I said.
He frowned, "Sorry about that." he murmured.
I shrugged, used to the same old reaction. In reality, I knew it was for the best. They argued a lot and when they met who they're with now, I could tell they were happier.
I pulled my phone out and checked it. "We have time so I was thinking about looking around the area, I'm sure the others won't be at the main place until the full hours up." I said.
He smiled and nodded, so I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder as we made out way outside.

Okay so I pulled this bc people were pointing out some things so if I still get comments now, then it's your fault for not reading this.
I. Am. 15. This is my first attempt to post a story. It's not gonna be perfect, I know that as well as you do while reading it but it would help if you all would not pull out the smallest of details that doesn't even apply for the story. I'm writing this and reposting it.
So I got a comment where I forgot to introduce Rosalie's name, thank you for pointing that out. It is fixed.
That same person proceeded to point out the fact that Rosalie seemed surprised when Alice introduced herself. It says, before I even edited anything, that Rosalie was surprised by Alice's hyperness. Not the fact she gave up her name.
Another things that person pointed out was that I need to come up with a better way to come up with an excuse to put the couples together. This was how my camp is set up. Exactly how, and yeah I put the couples together on purpose.
They ALSO made the comment that 8-11 year old girls would be embarrassed to start their period in a cabin with boys. That would happen regardless in real life, so bare with me.
Another person commented on the fact that it was all teenagers watching over the kids. I wasn't planning on it just being them, there's going to be camp directors just like any other camp. This is the first chapter.
At my old camp it had the same exact set up. Kids 11 and under shared cabins with the opposite gender. It let them talk more to each other and they were a bit younger and along with camp directors watching nonstop nothing would happen. Same thing with the directors, you went to the camp until you were 15, and if you wanted to continue going you could go as a counselor where the minimum age was 16 to do. There were 3 or so adults that were over everything and would go through at night to make sure everything was settled. Then the people in charge of lunch and other activities would stay in trailors set up in a camping area off the main parking lot. So before you comment on the way the camp is setup, this is a possible thing because I went to camps like that when I was 7 and continue going now.
All I'm trying to say, is I understand not everybody is going to like the way I write, and I do appreciate people pointing out mistakes that I overlook so I can fix them but pleaseplease don't question the story setup I come up with. If you don't agree with it or if you're not happy with it, just simply don't read the story.
