AN: Sorry everyone! My computer really messed up. I hope that you enjoy it now that you can actually read it. Sorry again!
Alex. Piper. Alex and Piper. Their names sounded so much better together. They were better people when they were together too. Piper could argue that Alex made her do stupid things. Stupid, illegal things to be exact. But when Piper was with Alex, she felt calm. She belonged. When Piper was with Alex, the world no longer revolved around her. She cared more about Alex than she could ever admit to herself. However, she admitted it to Alex every single night. Multiple times on most occasions.
On those nights, Piper never thought about Larry. She never regretted the decisions that she had made in Litchfield penitentiary. Most importantly, she never remembered what she saw in Larry. She was happy that Larry finally found what he was looking for. She was happy that Larry had found the woman of his dreams. She was even happier that that woman turned out to be Polly and not her. She harbored no ill thoughts towards them. She decided to forgive them. It was time to stop holding grudges. She even sent them a Christmas card last year. Polly had called to thank her for the card and to finally find some closure in their relationship. But the door was open. Polly had left that decision up to Piper. When Piper was ready, she could come visit. At any rate, Piper was never quite sure if she was ready or not.
Piper was mulling this over in her head when she was jolted out of her reverie by Alex's touch. The touch that could make even the worst situation better. Alex had gotten over Piper snitching on her pretty fast. Living in an apartment alone while Kubra was out for blood wasn't a life. She also said that it wasn't a life without Piper.
Piper registered Alex's scent, a mix between cigarettes, alcohol, sex, danger and everything nice in the world, and immediately stopped brooding. Piper tilted her head back. Her gaze was met with Alex's beautiful, no, stunning green eyes. Piper's face lit up. And Alex thought that it was the most amazing thing in the world. Only she could make Piper seem so euphoric. Even after all this time. After everything they've been through, Alex could still make Piper shine.
In an instant, it was evident that words would not be needed tonight. Nights with no words and just tender caressing were common these days. With not truly being together for so long, sometimes they just needed to simply co-exist. Alex gently sat down on the couch and laid her head on Piper's shoulder. Piper's arms automatically snaked around Alex and pulled her closer. Alex clutched Piper's t-shirt and she grabbed Alex's legs to throw them over her own. Piper kissed Alex's hair. Alex scooted even closer.
Hard times and hard time had made both of them soft at heart. Alex would never cuddle with Piper like this before. Their relationship had changed for the better. Looking at it now, fifteen years apart had done their relationship some good. They were both ready to settle down. Alex didn't need to sell drugs anymore. Piper knew that she wasn't just experimenting now. She knew that she was a lesbian. But just for Alex. Always for Alex.
Alex is all that Piper would ever need. Piper is all that Alex would ever need. It took them way too many years to see that. But now that they have, nothing could ever separate them. Wasn't that in the wedding ceremony anyway? Till death do us part, right? And to Alex, the best part of the wedding was being presented for the first time as a newlywed couple. Although, the honeymoon wasn't too shabby either.
"Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Alex and Piper Vause!" At that moment, she realized that they'd be together forever. They were always better together anyway. Time apart had made that not so little fact incontestable.
