It was the start of a new year. But the man who sat in the country house in the middle of nowhere was not happy. Too many had not survived long enough to see the new beginning. The new world. Too many had been lost to death. And in the end, was it worth it? Longbottom ... Tonks ... Potter ... Granger... the Weasleys ... Was it all worth it? Remus just swirled his drink slowly and continued to muse far into the new year.

Even the deaths of his enemies. In the end, it was hard to tell who had been a friend and who had been an enemy. In the end, he was still alone. Alone, as he had faced the Dark Lord. And alone he had been left to mourn the hundreds who had died, who had but him to remember. The famous Harry Potter, left all alone.
