Most of the people were sleeping, which made it perfect. Anyanka snuck out of bed and picked up her thin nightie, knowing it would look strange her being up this late in her day time clothes. Changing into the dress, she got out of bed properly, gasping when the cold air hit her. She sighed and gathered what she needed, before opening the door and slipping out of it.
It was completely silent apart from the young Jotun's swift footsteps. She was unable to go as fast as she wished due to her swollen belly. She cursed herself and stopped at the window. Opening the bag she had brought, she quickly pulled on her warm clothes and opened the window, tying a rope around a metal hook meant for curtains.
Taking a deep breath, Anyanka climbed out the window and down the rope.
She landed on the ground with a barely audible thump. Regaining her balance, Anya looked around then up at the castle. Unable to keep it in, she began to cry silently, the lukewarm tears streaming down the child's cheeks. She wished her brother was here. All her life, he was there for her. Even when she had threatened o kill his son, and tried to kill herself, he took the knife from her and comforted her. When she was afraid too sleep alone, (due to the nightmare poet), he took her to his own bed and gave her a flame to keep her warm. He loved her, and she him.
But Anyanka was stupid. She ran away from him, and back to Asgard, to Frigga and Odin, which she regretted more than anything, more than not listening to Laufesia, more than asking to meet Tyr. As soon as she got back home, the first thing Frigga noticed was the bump.
"What is that?!"
" I-I'm.. with child.. well, children.. twins.."
"What?! But you're only a child yourself!"
"Mother, I'm three hundred and six years old!"
"Still too young to be pregnant! Who's the father?!"
"Just some man I was... seeing... a while ago.. he's gone now, though.."
"And what does Loki think of your foolishness?"
"He thinks I can make my own decisions"
"Did he meet the father?"
"... Yes.. briefly." She shuddered at the memory of that night.
" And?"
"He hates him. Wants him dead."
"Good. To your room, you're grounded."
It was strangely cold outside. Ignoring it, she ran faster, trying to get over the rainbow bridge without being caught. As she reached the entrance to the bifrost, someone grabbed her and pulled her back. Heimdall. In the state she was in, she had forgotten about him.
"And where are you going at such a late hour?"
"Please , I want to go home..."
"You are home."
"No, I want to go back to midgard.. to Loki.."
He sighed. "I never saw you. Just this once."
She giggled slightly through the tears, wondering how he would explain that.
" Thank you."
Anyanka completely blacked everything but the sounds of shouting. As her parents reached the bifrost, she closed her eyes and was taken to Midgard.
