Inspired by I Know You Won't by Carrie Underwood.

I don't know what it is with me, Carrie Underwood, and Malec fics. But whatever, at least it's providing me with some inspiration, right?

I buy into those eyes
And into your lies

You say you'll call but I know you
You say you're comin' home but I know you
You say you'll call but I know you won't
You say you'll call but I know you won't

- I Know You Won't, Carrie Underwood

Why did every shade of blue have to remind him of him? And why was everything in his house suddenly blue, anyway? There was no way he had bought this much blue (well... bought was probably not the best word)! He didn't even like blue (well, he hadn't liked blue, but for some reason he had taken quite a liking to it recently). Every where he turned he saw shades of blue that reminded him of a different blue and with anger he waved his hands and changed everything in his apartment that was blue into red. There. Red didn't remind Magnus of him at all.

But even with all the red he was still at the front of his mind, because he was always at the front of his mind, the back of his mind, to the left and right of his mind so that Magnus didn't really have a mind anymore, he pretty much just had a bunch of lobes that concentrated solely on Alec Lightwood. He could paint his house red, could paint the town red (er... maybe not the best saying) and he would still only be able to concentrate on blue.

He knows Alec's not trying to be cruel, he's just scared and confused, but how can he be scared and confused in one moment and the next have Magnus up against the wall and his lips against his? Life would be so much easier if Alec could just stick to one emotion, because then Magnus would know what to expect. But one minute Alec is avoiding him like the plague and the next he acts like Magnus is the one, his one.

Lately, though, Alec hasn't been around so much. He knows the problem- it has luminous eyes and golden hair and is constantly trailing around behind Clary Fray like a lost puppy. He can't understand how Alec can love him, when Jace is so obviously infatuated with Clarissa. Magnus always comes second to Jace, but whenever he tries to tell Alec (tell Alec what? That he's leaving? He's not strong enough to leave, and he knows it) he just smiles and Magnus buys into his lies and gets lost in his eyes and tries to believe that maybe Alec loves him as much as he loves Alec.

It's always the same scene, and he feels like a rejected girl in some movie- 'I'll call you,' Alec always says, but Alec never calls. Magnus waits by the phone expectantly even though he knows he won't. At first he thought it proved he was optimistic, but lately he just thinks its foolishness. Alec doesn't call and just when Magnus has lost all hope he shows up at his door and smiles and Magnus is lost in the lies and the eyes again.

It's nothing but a cycle, and Magnus can't break away (can't, or doesn't want to?).

Alec won't call and Magnus won't leave, and he wonders just how long they can go around in a circle without going anywhere.

(With a wave of his hands he turns his apartment back to blue, because blue is still his favourite colour, despite everything.)
