Jester sat there on the steps and thought. And thought. And thought. About really nothing at all. He was not even sure why he was thinking at all. But one word continually floated through his head.
"Jane"
He could clearly understand why he thought about her so very much. She was like a drug. You can not really like it all that much, and try to keep clear of it, but it reels you back to it. Again and Again.
He knew exactly why the name kept coming into his head. It was the question that had entered his mind the first time he saw he. And it now demanded an answer. But if he wanted to find an answer to this burning question he would have to finally do it. The thought ate at the edges of his mind as he pondered the endless nothingness that filled his blue belled hat.
"Well, there is only one way to end this." He said triumphantly as he stood from the steps that stood near his room and was the only obstacle between him and Jane's room.
He climbed to the top of the stairs and opened the door to Jane's room, or as he had recently been calling it,
The Cave.
The room was piled high with dirty clothes and smell of dragon smoke, and sweat, along with a few more unpleasant smells that drifted through Jester nose the moment he entered. He used to mind it, but had gotten used to it long ago.
Jester looked around for Jane in the mountains of junk that spilled from every corner, but was fruitless in his quest.
So he decided that he would have to look else were for her. (A reasonable conclusion) He headed out the door grateful to smell oxygen and bounced down the steps three at a time. When he reached the bottom he tried get his hamster on the wheel long enough to think where Jane could be.
He finally decided to look in the courtyard where Jane had done practicing for so long. And Jester had watched her for so long. Pleasant thoughts filled Jester's head as he paced over to where he now assumed she was. But before he got there he saw Jane leaning against the side of a wall almost completely hidden by shadow. Jester walked straight up to her with a smile so awkward it rivaled the Mona Lisa.
"Good Afternoon, Jester" Jane said not really looking at him but down at the sword she held in her hands, fiddling with the runes on it.
"Jane?" Jester questioned with a voice of absolute determination.
"Yes Jester?" She answered looking up at him quizzically.
'Why does she have such good follow up questions?' He thought to himself 'I have not even fully decided yet!' Jane furrowed her brow and tilted her head awaiting an answer.
Finally Jester looked her straight into her eyes before quickly grabbing her shoulders and pulling her face towards his until their lips met. Jane stopped breathing as shock hit her like a sledgehammer but Jester seemed to enjoy it. As he kissed her he tried to decipher what he was tasting.
Hmm, sweat of course, and a little smoke. Cherries from breakfast, and a bit of something that could only be described as rainbows and fairy dust.
Jester eventually let go of Jane to see her eyes wide open, dumbstruck. Jester only smiled.
"Why…. What was… Jester!" Was all she could babble as she pressed her right hand to her bottom lip.
Jester grinned.
"Just wanted to know." Jester said as if Jane should know exactly what he means. Jane just looked more shocked
"Wanted to know what?" She demanded.
"What you kiss like. You are not bad actually. You taste quite pleasant too." He said in a friendly manner as if it was totally normal. Jane stuttered.
"I…Umm…Err…I…Have to…Be somewhere." She said and walked away. Jester watched her leave. Finally his mind was at peace, until another thought hit him
'I wonder what Pepper kisses like…'
