It was Shikamaru's birthday and Neji had yet to make a cake for him.
Most of his day had been spent cleaning out the fish tank that held their beloved goldfish. Spot who belonged to himself and Sushi who was Shikamaru's.
"Hope you guys are happy. Took me forever to clean that thing." Neji smiled though as Spot swam haphazardly around the tank while Sushi just drifted along. You sure can tell who's goldfish is who's. He did find it quite comical that the reflected their owners in some aspects.
Glancing at the clock, he jumped up and ran to the kitchen. He had just enough time to bake a cake before Shikamaru got home from his teaching position at the academy.
Neji busied himself around the kitchen pulling out flour, eggs, sugar, and all the other things needed to make a cake. Cracking eggs and adding flour, he mixed the ingredients with an electric beater but the sound of the door opening and shutting loudly made him jump. In effect, Neji jerked the eater out of the cake mix and splattered it all over himself.
"Did you do this for me?"
Neji turned around and saw his boyfriend staring at him with an expression of affection and amusement.
"I tried but you got home early today," Neji grumbled. "Plus I'm covered in cake batter."
Shikamaru chuckled and walked over to his love. "I think it suits you." He smiled and licked a spot of the gooey mixture off Neji's cheek. "Yum… You taste like sugar."
"Do you want to wear this cake or have it properly baked?" The playfully threat hung in the air.
"I wouldn't mind in the slightest if you wished to cover me in it. As long as you licked it off of course, dear."
"Such a naughty boy." Neji tutted. "But you might just get that since after all it is your birthday."
"Then what are we waiting for? Ring the bowl and let's get started."
Shikamaru followed Neji to the bedroom to fulfill one lucky guy's birthday wish.

I think it was pretty fluffy. No real stuff happened. Unfortunately. But I figured I should practice anyway. XD
