OTP Challenge: Calm
Calm
It was truly difficult to be calm while watching Harry play Quidditch, Tom decided after a bludger had come dangerously close to knocking Harry off his broom yet again.
It was an almost normal experience now for Harry to pull off numerous stupid if not downright suicidal moves that no one else would dare attempt while flying at the heights and at the speeds Harry usually flew at.
Tom was sure he should be used to such things by now but that never stopped his heart from pounding every time a bludger came close to Harry and only missed by mere inches and stop whenever Harry felt like jumping off his broom while at least thirty meters in the air all for one silly gold ball with wings. No, for the victory of their team Harry always corrected him.
He doubted the team would be particularly overjoyed if Harry managed to kill himself either, Tom had pointed out on multiple occasions after Harry had nearly given him another heart attack. At the rate he was going he was probably going to have heart failure before he even managed to graduate from Hogwarts. Harry always laughed him off whenever he muttered this under his breath saying that he worried too much and that Harry would be fine.
It was easy for him to say when he was not the one watching the person he loved go through a bunch of reckless maneuvers simply to win a game. He doubted Harry felt anything other than the adrenalin rush when he was flying at top speed after a ball that was probably smaller than even the size of his palm.
There was a reason he had not liked Quidditch in the beginning and Harry had only made the dislike for the magical sport grow. He only ever went to watch the matches that Harry played in so that he could help if Harry ever did something without thinking that he would not be able to get out of on his own. He could not even simply say that he was there for when Harry did something without thinking because Harry did a lot of things without thinking and could usually get out of the trouble his actions brought in the most astounding and truly lucky ways possible. He doubted any of it would work for anyone else in the world.
As much as he would like to follow Harry's advice to calm down and relax while he played and that he would not get seriously injured, he doubted that he would ever be able to. He doubted Harry would be calm if their positions were reversed either so he used that as his mental excuse to continue allowing himself to be dragged out to the Quidditch matched by Harry almost every weekend.
He would not be calm until Harry was back on solid ground with no injuries. Only at that point, at the very end of the Quidditch match, would he be calm once more because Harry was in a relatively safer place than high up in the sky.
Although, with Harry he could never truly be sure.
