'King Candy'
"You're cheating!"
"No! You're cheating!"
"You're always cheating!"
Teresa Lisbon rolled her eyes as she heard the arguing from the next room. She finished the sentence she was writing in her paperwork and got up, ready to tear the two apart and make them play nice.
She found her husband on the brink of tears, clutching his game cards in his hands so tightly he was almost ripping them apart. Their daughter Rose sat across from him, sporting the same kind of emotion.
"Mummy, Rose is cheating!" Patrick exclaimed. Rose shook her head frantically.
"You don't like it that I'm winning!"
Teresa shook her head and walked towards the two, moving to take the cards away from them.
"No!" the two cried in unison. Patrick pulled a card and groaned when it wasn't the card it was supposed to be. Rose laughed mischievously and pulled a card too. Looking at it focusing for a few seconds, she turned it towards her father and, moving her figurine to the finish line, clapped her hands and laughed hysterically.
"You won?" Patrick asked. Rose covered her mouth but couldn't stop laughing.
"Duh!" exclaimed the four year old girl. She continued to perform her celebration dance while Patrick turned towards Teresa, completely and utterly confused.
"I didn't even let her win."
Teresa chuckled and kissed the top of his head, while he was still trying to register what had just happened.
"Apparently, you're not King Candy any longer."
A few minutes later, Queen Candy shared her treasuries with the former monarch.
