A Year in the Life
Ok, because I have poetic license, I'm going to set the running away scene from "That's the Way the World Crumbles" in March. It's going to be my take on what happens after that. The title should also clue you into the plot.
Open road and a sunset to die for. In Spencer's mind right now, that and a dash of Ashley made a perfect life. Well, it almost did.
She definitely felt upset to leave her family. More specifically, it was upsetting to leave Clay, Chelsea, Aiden, Kyla, and most of all, her dad. Spencer truly admired how her father protected her from her mother's twisted future plans for her life.
"How're you holding up?" Ashley's head quickly glanced at the girl opposite her. It broke her heart every time she remembered what they just went through. Ashley felt it was her duty to check how Spencer felt with this. Unfortunately, that was about every 5 minutes of the ride.
"I'm fine," was Spencer's reply.
"Has anyone ever told you that you'd be a horrible actress?" she joked. "Because, seriously, you need work!"
"If this map couldn't distract you and kill us both, I would so throw it at you." Spencer laughed, redirecting her moment of woe to a moment of carefree fun.
"You wouldn't dare, and I know it," said Ashley.
The blonde feigned surprise. "Oh! And why is that, exactly?" she said. She knew it was going to be something about her being the good girl. At least, that's what she expected.
"Simple," she paused, "because I would do it before you got the chance."
This time the other girl did not fake surprise, though it did not last long. The next thing Spencer remembered doing was reaching for the map, looking at it like she was deciphering their location, then attempting to toss it at Ashley when she wasn't looking.
The map vanished quickly from Spencer's hands, which brought small fears back to Spencer. It hit her then, that as the map was left behind, so was her old life. She convinced herself that Ashley was totally worth it, and that it would all work out somehow.
Ashley smiled, placing her hand on the other girl's thigh. Right now, it was all she could do to let Spencer know she was there, through screaming mothers, and homophobic brothers. The blonde grasped the loose hand, almost as if she heard the silent message sent to her.
They both were glad, at least, that they didn't have Paula tailgating them with a pistol to Ashley's head.
