Chapter One: The Plants
summary: He's watering the plants when he gets there.

When he arrives at the house, his hearts clench. Slowly he brings out his copy of the key and opens the door. The living room light is on, so naturally, he goes to the living room.
Brian has the watering can in his hands, and he's pouring water in the soil of the plants. The Williams did have quite a few plants.
"Brian," he's heartbreakingly gentle, "I'm sorry."
Brian hesitates just a moment before continuing to water the plants.
"Well, someone has to water the plants. If they don't, they'll die." His voice is surprisingly even. He thinks that maybe he doesn't hate him. He's not sure he likes that thought.
"I don't want them to die."
