Lmao, someone's obsessed.
Read this and you'll totally know it. To Be A
Greaser
To be a greaser. What's it like,
exactly? What does it take? What are the up-sides of being a greaser?
What are the down-sides? What is agreaser?
Well, if you ask a soc, they'll tell you this;
"A greaser is a JD, a hood. Someone who is always breaking the rules, wears leather jackets, jeans, plain old t-shirts, and always has their hair greased back."
Is that it? Is that really what a greaser is?
No. A greaser isn't anything. It's a label. So let me tell you about this label.
Greasers are not always the ones who start the fights. In fact, they're never really looking for one. As said by Harry Potter (A/N: haha) trouble usually finds them first. They want to belong, to fit in.
Most of their lives aren't the greatest, either. People judge them and disciminate against them. Beat them and jump them. They are forced to live a life of shame and pain, all because of the 'gang' or 'label' they fit into.
Saying that every greaser had to be tough, hard, cold and mean is like saying that every smart person is a nerd, or that EVERY person that drinks is an alcoholic. Take Ponyboy for example. That kid could never be mean. There's probably not a mean bone in his body. He likes to read and write. And watch sunsets. Does that sound like some rule-breaking hood to you?
Greasers are the type of people parents pray their kids will not bring home one day. Or, at least, people, socs, make them out to be that way.
As stated, somewhere, in the book maybe, the police didn't care if they saw a greaser laying there bleeding to their death. But of course, if it was a soc, they'd be right on the case.
That's like racisim. I'm not even joking.
Greasers are people. They're not JD's, hoods, people who cause fights, dirt, or anything else people might say that they are.
So, after all this, are greasers really just trouble-making JD's to you?
They aren't to me.
