One More Hour By Your Side

Four mere hours after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy for Spring Break, Jemma Simmons receives a phone call. Without bothering to look at the caller ID, the biochem major answers as she moves towards her loading gate.
"Hello? This is—" she starts off before a familiar voice reaches her ears.
"Jemma!" Leopold Fitz' cheerful voice comes through the phone. "Has your flight taken off yet?" he inquires, and Jemma can sense the hopeful tone in her lab partner's voice.
"Not yet, Fitz," Simmons answers as she takes another step forward. "Where are you?" she asks in return, scanning the airport to look for the curly-haired engineering major.
"In layover. Apparently, the weather's gotten bad back home," Fitz explains, and it is then that Jemma notices her flight has also been cancelled.
"You're never going to believe this, Fitz! My flight was just…."
"Cancelled? I figured that would happen. I saved you a seat at the coffee shop, Simmons."
"Is that why you called?" Jemma questions.
"Actually, I just really miss talking to you," Fitz smiles as he waves her over.
As Jemma approaches her new best friend, she can't help but have similar thoughts. A week without him would be torture.
Author's Note: And here is my second Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. story, although the first Fitzsimmons one I have written! Even though I am only four episodes into Season 2, Fitz and Simmons are absolutely my OTP of the show, and I couldn't resist writing for them as part of the 31 Day March drabble challenge. Anyway, this Author's Note is really short because I had a nearly ten hour work day today and still had to come home and write a proposal for my college research paper as well as type this up and post it.
