*Pony's P.O.V*
"Get up Pony, your going to be late for school!" I heard Soda yell from the kitchen. Great, another day of just sitting in classes doing nothing. It's not that I don't like school, don't get me wrong. It's just that it's too easy. I get out of bed and grab my clothes, walking towards the bathroom to take a shower. I quickly went in and got out, not wanting to be late. I walked into the kitchen to find Soda's green eggs and blue pancakes. Darry left for work early, looks like Soda's driving me today.
The ride was short. The school isn't very far away. "Alright Pone, I have to get going. Have a good day at school!" Soda said as I hopped out of the car. "Thanks Soda. Have a good day at work."
I walked into the school, grabbed my books, and headed to homeroom. The first class i had was AP math. I walked into the room and the teacher passed out worksheets. Wonderful, that meant I actually had to do work today. I was right in the middle of a problem when the teacher stopped everyone. "Class, I would like to welcome a new student." A girl with dirty blonde hair that was flipped to the side, ripped jeans, and a plaid blue shirt that matched her eyes; walked into the room. Looks like I'm not the only greaser in here anymore. I guess that's a plus. " Hi, my name is Candy." She said. Well that's a name you don't hear everyday, but I of all people shouldn't say something like that.
The only empty seat left in the room was next to me, great. It's not that I have anything against this new girl, but I like being by myself. Being in my own world is where I am most comfortable. She walks over, smiles, and sits down. "Hi, I'm Candy. What's your name?"
" Oh, hi. My name is Ponyboy." And that was that. I went back to my math.
I didnt see her very much after that. The only other time was during lunch. She was sitting at a table by herself. Later that day, in honors chemistry, Candy walks into another one of my classes. We were in the middle of a lab when she showed up. She apologized to the teacher, saying she had gotten lost on the way here. Our teacher was kind to her, seeing that it was only her first day. The only thing was, she asked Candy if she knew anybody in our class that she would be comfortable enough to be working with. And the whole time I was hoping she wouldn't pick me. She did seem kind of lonely at that lunch table. Candy looked around, getting only stares back from the soc's in the class. She smiled when she saw me. "Can I work with Ponyboy?" Oh joy.
-End of the school day-
Two-bit drove up to the corner and rolled down his window. "Come on kid, hop in!" He yelled. I hopped in and threw my things in the back. Two-bit started driving off while he asked "So how was school today Pone? Meet any cute girls?" I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Leave it to good old Two-Bit to ask me about girls. Yes, I may have recently turned 16, but I still have never had a girlfriend. Right now, I'm really just trying to focus on school. "It was fine Two-Bit. And no, I didn't meet any cute girls. But there is a new girl that is in some of my classes. Her name is Candy." He pulled into our drive way. "Candy? That sounds like a sweet name. How could a girl named Candy not be cute? Come on Pone, tell me the truth. Was she?" I just glared at him, grabbed my things, and went inside. I need to get my homework done, and he's not helping.
