I normally don't write McAbby, but I've been trying to expand my creative horizons. This is just something that popped into my head. I decided it was way too cutesy to be Tiva. So here is my first ever McAbby fanfic.

Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS; there'd be a whole lot more McAbby if I did

"If I lay here, if I just lay here would you lie with me and just forget the world?"~ Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

It was by far the most exhausting week of Timothy McGee's life. He had barely gotten any sleep in between the case and writing his next book. This last part was especially difficult because he was currently writing a passionate kiss between Amy and McGregor. This was only fueled by his imagination. He was only projecting his fantasies into his books. But then again, isn't that what books are for? To express feelings and to put certain people in unlikely scenarios. Tommy and Lisa were far easier to write. Perhaps that's because while Tony and Ziva taunt and tease each other, he watches. He has already picked up the subtle hints that Ziva gives to Tony. He has yet to decide if Tony gets those hints. But nevertheless, he writes more about them. It is safer that way. There is less of a risk that someone will pick up the longing in his words.

Tim was walking Abby home from a celebratory round of drinks at the bar. Tim had offered to take the slightly tipsy Abby home. She was yakking all the way to her apartment. As she got out of the car, McGee sighed. Some days, he feels less like a friend and more like a babysitter. And he thought DiNozzo was bad.

She skipped away, giggling. McGee rolled his eyes. When Abby got drunk, she acted like a six year old with a hyperactivity disorder.

"McGee, come skip with me" she called

McGee frowned, annoyed. Normally Abby was just giggly. But this was going to severely cut into his writing time. McGee looked at his watch, quarter to ten. When he looked back up, Abby was gone.

"Abby, Abby where are you" McGee called, getting worried.

"Right here"

He walked over to a small hill. Abby was lying flat on her back. She was looking up.

"McGee, doesn't the sky look pretty tonight?"

"Yeah Abs it does" McGee's patience was quickly running out

She pouted, "McGee, you didn't even look"

"Come on Abby, I'm tired and I want to get home"

"Well I'm moving" Abby said defiantly

McGee was pissed "Fine just stay here, I'm going home!"

Abby grabbed his arm. She looked at him pleadingly.

"McGee just lie down with me. For a couple minutes, please"

How could he ignore those pleading eyes?

"Ok, just for a few minutes"

So McGee sat down next to Abby. They sat there in silence, and then McGee looked over at Abby. She was looking at him, smiling.

"What?" he asked

"Nothing, just sitting here with you under the stars is just so amazing"

"Yeah it is"

She snuggled closer and McGee put his arm around her. They stayed that way in silence until Abby broke it.

"It's kind of amazing"

"What is?" McGee asked confusedly

"The fact that you can just lie down underneath the stars and time will stand still"

McGee nodded. This very moment seemed to last forever. Just what he wanted.

McGee wasn't sure how long they were lying there. He wasn't sure what was going through Abby's mind. One thing he was sure of though?

This was so going in his next book.
