Uzume: Hey people! I'm back again! I know I haven't finished my other story yet but I am thinking about revising it. But in my 1102 class today we read a poem called Not Waving But Drowning by Stevie Smith and I got the idea for this story!

Nobody heard him, the dead man,

But still he lay moaning:

I was much further out than you thought

And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking

And now he's dead

It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,

They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always

(Still the dead one lay moaning)

I was much too far out all my life

And not waving but drowning.

There was an air of sadness within the large group that gathered to mourn the loss of their friend. Even the earth seemed to crying at the loss of its angel, as the storm had been raging since it was announced that she was dead. How had they not seen this coming? After all they say it's always the people who shine the brightest, who are the most depressed.

But she was always smiling. Always. And she always had time to help others. Her blue eyes were always so vibrant, and her hair always shone like the sun. Why? Why?

Her father and brother lead her crying mother away trying to console her, and her friends said their last good-byes as the casket was lowered into the ground.

The Epitaph read:
"Here rests Serenity Usagi Tsukino
June 30, 1989 - February 14, 2009
she was Not Waving but Drowning"
