Rita Skeeter: Beetlejuice
She sat there for a very long time, just staring out of the glass. Watching as the days rolled by. Waiting for that wretched girl to feed her. It was a drag being a beetle. No meat. No magic. It really did bite. All she could do was sit, wait, and long to let out. Rita remembered a day earlier in the summer, a very scary moment in her beetle life. Monday morning and for once, Hermione allowed herself to have a lie in. Ahh yes, she thought, summer, but I do miss Harry and Ron. "Harry and Ron!" She all but shouted. Leaping out of bed and pulling on some respectable clothing, she made her way downstairs. Her mother, who had a day off, was reading the daily newspaper in the kitchen, "Morning mum," Hermione said. "Hi honey," Her mum replied, planting a kiss on the top of her head, "Ron phoned, he's going to be late, said something about picking up Harry, but I'd gone deaf by that time. Please, for all our sakes Harm, teach him hoe to use a phone!" There was a knock on the door. Hermione ran and flung open the door to find Harry, Ron and Mrs. Weasley on the doorstep. "Hiya Hermione," said Ron, "Harry here's got something for your pet beetle," He pointed at Harry's hand which clasped a huge lettuce. "I wasn't sure what beetles ate," Harry said, " So I bought whatever I could fit under my jumper," Harry saw Hermione look from the huge lettuce to Harry's small, red jumper, that looked as though it had been shrunk. Twice. "Trust my Harm, it's easier than it looks, anyway shall go feed it to her?" Harry and Ron followed Hermione to the living room. Mrs. Weasley went to the kitchen to have a chat with Mrs. Granger. "Be careful that she doesn't jump out!" Hermione exclaimed, but too late, Ron had opened the jar in which Rita was held and she leaped out and onto the carpet. "Grab her!" Her instructed, so they all got on their hands and knees and tried to clasp hold of Rita. It didn't work. "Get a net or something," Ron said rather panicky, " I don't want to go to jail, please, find a net!" Before Hermione or Harry could say anything more or do anything more, Crookshanks shot across the room, dived of the sofa and pounced on something small and black. "Good Crookshanks!" Hermione squealed in delight, "We're saved!" Ron waved his hands around and started jumping up and down in delight with Hermione. "Er.Guys?" Harry said, "Hermione! Ron! Look!" Crookshanks flicked the little, round black thing up into the air and caught it in his mouth, licking his lips in delight. The three friends rushed at the cat and chased him around the house trying to catch up with him, but failing badly. Finally, Hermione caught him in a pillowcase. She shut the door to the living room and slowly let him out. Crookshanks tumbled onto the floor, stood upright and started coughing. No, choking. Then with one final choke, the beetle known as Rita Skeeter went somersaulting through the air and plopping back into the jar, which was shut tight by Harry.
That was 3 weeks ago now. Rita still wants to get out so badly, but with Crookshanks prowling every corner, she hoped rather a lot that she would be let free as far away from Crookshanks as possible.
