Prologue
The Beginning
"Alve, please!" I cried. Alve swung his iron sword at me, I jumped backwards and headed for the plank. We were on a ship; an I was being framed.
"Get back here Little!" Alve growled. I stumbled backwards a little more feeling the end of the plank at my heels. The rest of the ship-mates were laughing and singing with joy as I was about to plummet to my death.
"Alve I told you it wasn't me! I didn't kill-"
"Be quiet Little! I don't want to do this.. But you have left me no choice." Alve neared me, his sword tip glistening in the light. I looked behind me, the blue sea was crawling with my worst fear; sharks. I had no other choice; be gutted, or swim.
I took my chances and dove into the water; resurfacing and coughing up salted water. The ship-mates laughed as they sailed away, but Alve looked at me with despair one last time.
I started swimming, swim and swim is what I told myself. I began to grow tired; but one time going under I knew I wouldn't come back up. I pushed myself forward, my legs burned. I saw fish, dolphins, and even a turtle; but thankfully no sharks, yet.
Once I reached land I was so tired, drenched in water, and hungry. I laid down in the sand and looked at the sky.
"Who are you?" A voice hissed behind me. I froze in my skin, slowly turning to see who spoke. It was a boy, about my age. He was dressed in a light blue T-shirt with dark blue jeans, a leather hat covered his hair.
"My name is Little." I murmured. He looked at me for a minute and squinted, trying to look through me. I looked behind me. A large ship was heading our way. "Alve..." I said in a low whisper.
"Who's Alve?" The boy asked. I looked back at him and stood up, he unsheathed a wooden sword and glared.
"A very bad man, and if you don't start running we are both dead." I muttered as he and I started sprinting. He sheathed his sword and looked at me, not fear, but bravery showed in his eyes. I didn't quite understand.
"I have a house in the jungle." He huffed. I nodded and followed him. The jungle was huge, long vines flowed from trees and cocoa beans stuck to the jungle trees. The boy started climbing up a very hidden ladder and up we went into a small tree house.
"Well.." I murmured looking out the leaves, I could barely see, but it was enough space for me to peak. I turned back to the boy. "What is your name?" I asked. The boy looked up.
"My name.." He said almost in a whisper. "Its Steve." He told me at last. I nodded and laid down on the wooden flooring. "Are you cold, Little?" Steve asked. I shook my head and curled up.
I was almost asleep, but I could feel Steve put a blanket over me, the warmth was nice; but I knew I couldn't stay long. Alve would be after me sooner or later. I knew that he knew I was alive, that for me was scary. Alve and his ship-mates with their long, sharp swords. It sent a chill down my spine.
I closed my eyes and my dreams whisked me away.
