Stay Awake, Charlie Brown
Characters by Charles M Schulz
Songs from Mary Poppins
Fanfiction by LivingOnLaughs
Charlie Brown let out a small yawn as his mother helped him and his sleep over friends into bed. Instead of sleeping, Linus was tossing and turning while Peppermint Patty was singing off key and Marcie was trying to read in peace. Charlie Brown knew that he had to get them to sleep somehow, and he HAD an idea. "Have you guys ever heard of MARY POPPINS?" He asked, only for Linus to nod his head in agreement. Charlie Brown smiled at his three friends before beginning to sing:
"STAY AWAKE, DON'T NOD YOUR HEAD
DON'T LAY DOWN UPON YOUR BED
WHILE THE MOON DRIFTS
IN THE SKIES,
STAY AWAKE
DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES"
Linus, Peppermint Patty and Marcie began to drift off, but not before Charlie Brown finished singing:
"THOUGH THE WORLD
IS FAST ASLEEP
THOUGH YOUR PILLOW
IS SOFT AND DEEP
YOU'RE NOT SLEEPY AS YOU SEEM
STAY AWAKE
DON'T NOD AND DREAM"
The three kids were beginning to snore while Charlie Brown sung the last part:
"STAY AWAKE
DON'T NOD AND DREAM"
The lovable looser then slipped into a deep slumber himself, dreaming of flying a kite with Mr. & Mrs. Banks along with Judy and Michael and even Bert the chimney sweep and (of course) Mary Poppins herself.
***The next morning***
Charlie Brown awoke to his friends singing a song together, and even though Charlie Brown was wishy washy, he knew that song anywhere. "Are you three singing Feed the birds?" he asked. "Good morning Chuck." The freckle faced tomboy exclaimed as Linus and Marcie smiled at their wishy washy friend. Linus then spoke up, "Actually, we WERE singing that bird song, well I thought it to these girls and I thought that maybe we could sing it until you awoke." Marcie then continued, "And now that you're awake, Charles, we can have some amazing fun, heck, I can't even THINK of a word to describe the fun we can have today." At that point, Charlie Brown explained the word his bespectacled friend was looking for, "The word you're looking for is SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS, and trust me, it IS a mouthful." The four kids then burst into laughter until Mrs. Brown called them down for breakfast.
THE END
A/N: What did you guys think? Was this story just as Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as I thought it was?
