Rogan drabble: Rory says no to Logan, and sees him off to California. Her thoughts as he boards the plane.
Disclaimer: I do not own Gilmore Girls.
For a split second, I want to tell him to stay. That I'll marry him. Anything to keep him with me.
He smiles at me and checks his baggage. He turns to me and smiles, giving me a small wink. "This way."
I almost think he never said it, but when he looks at me expectantly, I see I have not imagined it. He really did ask me to follow him.
We're standing at the gate now. I never wanted a cheesy airport scene. Hell, I didn't even want a scene. I wanted to be following him to California. But I need this time to find me. To discover every option and to take the one that's right for me.
He cups my elbows, and kisses me softly. "I'll miss you, Rory."
I force a smile. "You're going to miss your plane."
He nods, knowing I won't ask him to take me with him. I don't deserve that. If I won't marry him, I can't force him to stay here.
He begins to walk away, before I call out to him, and he turns around. I walk over to him and launch myself into his arms.
"Tell your mom she still has something to worry about," I whisper softly. "Someday." I add.
"I'll see you later, Ace," he says. He smiles at me and kisses my cheek, he grasps my hands, and I feel him leave a slip of paper in them. He lets go and walks away, and I nod. We both need this. We need this chance to find out what we want before we take such a big step.
I sit in the limo and, after telling Frank where to go, I will myself to open up the paper. I smile as I read the words.
Aceāsee you someday.
Logan
I rest my head against the seat and watch the sun break through the clouds. And I know that we will eventually find each other again. And we'll know precisely what we want. And we'll live happily ever after.
Someday.
