When Oliver stepped into his office all the memory came flooding back.
"Noll, we should be heading now" Eugene said, Followed by a happy bark from their dog.
Oliver got up from his stomach and dusted off his clothes. He had just spent the last ten minutes starring into the water at the bottom of the cliff.
"Must you always have that dog with you Gene" Noll asked referring to the pure white husky that stood by his brother.
"Need I remind you that she saved your life" gene insisted.
This was true. Two days ago Noll had been playing around the cliffs. The dog had pulled him from the edge, just as it fell to the water below. Noll rolled his eyes as he remembered he had to be saved by a dog.
Gene had insisted on calling the dog Shiki.
The boys' friend, Lin, had immediately liked the dog. Noll liked the dog also, but he never said it.
After a few weeks Noll grew to love Shiki. You could hardly see them apart from each other.
One day Noll, Gene and Line were playing by the cliffs. Noll stood much closer to the edge than the other boys. At one point Noll lost his balance and began to fall. Shiki came rushing and bit his shirt, pulling him back to safety. But the momentum pushed the poor dog over instead.
Noll never left his room for days after that.
"What is that" Oliver asked his assistant who was petting a pure white husky.
"It's Shiki" she said unaware that the sadness was eating away at her boss
