The Truth about the Start of Rob's Rebellion

"You should give the flowers to the young Lady Stark."

"I only get the flowers if I win, love", Rhaegar said to his wife.

"I have no doubt you shall be victorious, my husband", Elia smiled at him.

"You do not care for blue flowers… would you not like to have them?"

"The North is wild and unpredictable… you should use this moment to show them that their future king shall be kind to them… and that you shall honor and respect them."

"I am lucky to have such a wise wife", Rhaegar ran his fingers through Elia's dark hair and then departed to prepare himself for the tournament.

The tournament went beautifully. All cheered and smiled and enjoyed the day. Prince Rhaegar won and everyone smiled and clapped.

Rhaegar trotted past his wife and moved to where Lyanna Stark sat. The cheers faded as he presented the young woman with the blue flowers. Yet, Rhaegar paid them all no mind… he smiled at Lyanna and she accepted the flowers… and then the moment past.

"The Northerners did not seem to care for your idea, Elia", Rhaegar spoke as he heard someone enter the tent wear he was removing his armor.

"Forgive me, your highness, but I am not your wife", a deep voice replied to the Prince's words.

"Ah, think nothing of it", Rhaegar turned around to face the man. "What brings you into my presence?"

"The Lord of Light"

"Oh, I see… you are one of the priests of the fire god. I have listened to your words before… and I say again, your god is for you and your followers… I have gods of my own."

"I have not come to preach to you, my Prince… I have come here to give you this."

The fire priest blew powder out of his hand and onto Rhaegar. The Prince coughed and batted at the dust… but it was to no avail. Within moments the Prince's eyes clouded and his body stilled.

"Now, my Prince, listen to my words", the fire priest moved closer to the Prince and whispered in his ear. "I looked into the flames… I looked and the Lord of Light spoke to me. There is one that shall come… but the one cannot rise if the world remains as it is. Our Lord has a plan… and you are part of His plan. Your future is no longer with your wife. You no longer desire her… you no longer want her… you lust for another. You need Lyanna Stark. You can think of nothing but her… nothing but Lyanna… Lyanna's hair… Lyanna's eyes… Lyanna's lips… Lyanna's body. You would do anything to have her… you shall do everything to get her… to claim Lyanna Stark as your own."

"Husband… is everything alright?" Elia entered Rhaegar's tent, finding him standing motionless and alone.

"Yes", Rhaegar gently shook his head, "everything is… going to be fine. Yes, I'm going to make everything be as it should be."
