Chapter 1
An Ending and a Beginning
"Yatta!" Hiro said grimly, as he yanked Ando's sword out of Sylar's chest. He watched as the villain stumbled and fell to the ground, defeated. As much as he hated Sylar, and knew that he deserved to die, Hiro couldn't help but feel the tiniest amount of remorse; he had seen how Sylar had gone to his mother's house, how he had begged for forgiveness. Then he thought of Charlie, and Isaac, and all the other people Sylar murdered, and quite suddenly wanted to stab Sylar again. But he knew that wouldn't serve any purpose, other than staining his sword with more blood. The villain had been slain; Hiro's task was finished.
Suddenly, he was jerked out of his thoughts by a shout: "Hiro!"
Hiro turned and saw… "Peter Petrelli!" He dashed over to where Peter stood, his hands glowing.
"You can stop this."
"How?"
"I need you to kill me."
Hiro opened his mouth to protest, but before he could, he felt the sword slide from his grasp as he was flung through the air by Sylar. He didn't need to look to see what he was going to hit if he didn't get out of there. He concentrated hard on teleporting away…And fell, face first, into the grassy earth.

"Ow," moaned Hiro. He stood up, brushed most of the dirt and grass off his clothes, and looked at his surroundings; in front of him were grassy hills, which, in the distance, gave way to dense jungle that stretched all the way to the feet of the mountains. Altogether, it was a nice view, yet something didn't feel quite right. Whether his powers had given him a sixth sense for this sort of thing, or because of something else entirely, Hiro could feel — or imagined he could feel — that this place was different, that, like him, it was special.
Hiro turned around, to see what was behind him, and saw, with a jolt, something very peculiar: not more than several hundred yards away from him was more jungle, with a row of tall black posts set in the ground at regular intervals just before the tree line. Just looking at them gave Hiro chills; he wasn't entirely sure of their purpose, but he knew it was not benevolent. He also knew that it would be idiotic to attempt to walk through the gap in between the posts. So, without any further ado, nor any idea as to why he was doing it, Hiro began to walk along the fence, looking for an opening.
