"I promise to be as gentle as possible."

How nostalgic, Ciel thought as he watched the already familiar scene from afar. He had been watching over the family for a couple of centuries already from the depths of Hell and occasionally from the sleepless Earth, seeing strangers — yet of the same bloodline — take over the company, running it for a long time and even somehow managed to survive the two World Wars that happened decades after the death of his human form, having metamorphosed into a demon, much like his previous butler who was now ending his contract with his great granddaughter.

Out of the other generations that took over the family and his position as the Queen's Watchdog, Ciel was most pleased with this one — merely because she seemed to display nearly all of his traits and even motives that one might confuse her for his 'reincarnation'.

The fact that they were sharing the same fate, however, was quite saddening. Ciel wondered whether any of his ancestors have ever formed a contract with Sebastian — or any demon at all from the underworld.

A few metres from where he was standing, Shiori lied down on the park's bench, her eyes never leaving Sebastian's figure, waiting for him to just devour her soul and get it over with quickly. Her breath was steady, and she showed no fear nor hesitation. All that her face showed was calmness and confidence.

A proud smirk etched itself on Ciel's lips. That is what he expected from a Phantomhive direct descendant — his favourite.

Just as Shiori was about to close her eyes and let pain take over her, Ciel stepped forward and walked beside Sebastian, showing himself for the first time

And for the first and last time, Shiori Genpou saw her ancestor — her great grandfather — smiling pitifully at her and saying, "It's unfortunate that we have to share the same tragic fate as well, isn't it, my granddaughter?"
