The Upside of Having a Vegetarian Best-friend

"Are you sure there's no meat in that?" Came a smug and teasing voice across from her. Sam stopped the motion to take a bite out of her tofu burger and instead glared at the boy sitting there.

"Tucker." She growled, clearly not in the mood for his usual meat 'jibes' this afternoon.

"I don't know Sam, the man has a point." Another voice said, this time coming from her right.

She laid her burger down on the table they were occupying in the Casper High cafeteria and ground her teeth together.

Crossing her arms, "Danny! Not you too!" she said irritatedly.

The two boys both chuckled at her exasperation as Sam continued to eat, fury in her eyes.

Eyeing the hamburger in Tuckers hands, she cleared her throat. "At least my tofu burger, which is made out of soy, isn't loaded up with preservatives and who knows what else."

He raised an eyebrow, challengingly. "Oh yeah, like what?"

Danny watched the pair with amusement, as Sam grinned, mentally cracking her knuckles.

"Well, in many meats, similar to what you're eating, preservatives like sodium-nitrite are added to stop the process of ageing. So it won't spoil. This preservative has been linked to Alzheimer's disease and Dementia.

Now, red meat, has been linked to causing colon and intestinal cancers, diabetes and heart disease. Eating a lot of this type of meat can increase the chances of premature death. Even poultry, in some cases, is dipped in chlorine after being de-feathere-"

-STOP!" Tucker interrupted. "Okay, okay, I get your point! Maybe I eat a little too much meat sometimes." He sighed longingly and placed his burger down on the tray, pushing it away with a slight nauseous look on his face.

"Was it something I said?" She asked, spotting Danny as he eyed his chicken strips warily.

Tucker leaned his elbows against the table and stared at her.

"I'll try and tone down the teasing, but it's just so easy...Sorry, I promise to never again annoy you about your eating habits, as long as you don't start spouting information about the dangers of eating meat and the process of slaughter and all that."

Her lips softened into a smile. "Deal, and...thanks Tuck."

He smiled back at her as Danny spoke up, pushing his chicken towards the middle of the table near Tuckers burger.

"That was certainly...enlightening. Though I really didn't need to hear it."

Sam smirked again, taking another bite of her tofu burger. "Always at your service."

A/N: I personally, am a vegetarian. So I'm used to being teased about it by my friends and always enjoy telling them this information. ^-^ I kinda think Sam would do the same thing, so that's part of where this little one-shot came from.

I hope you guys enjoyed. Please review and tell me what you think :)
