"Stop it."

"Stop what?"

"Just stop it."

"I'm not doing anything!"

"Exactly. You've been sitting there staring at me for almost ten minutes. It's putting me off."

"Good! You should be resting, not reading stupid books that I know for a fact you've read a million and one times already."

Sirius ducked quickly behind the armchair he was leaning on, already anticipating the heavy book that quickly came flying in his direction. He straightened up and perched on the arm of the chair, smiling jovially towards the glaring figure curled up in the squishy armchair opposite.

"I hope you know that was a library book." Remus muttered, shifting position in the chair and closing his eyes in defeat. It was just his luck to get stuck with Sirius on his day off, he thought wearily, in the back of his mind still wishing away the lingering headache that had been bothering him all day. Sirius frowned, looking down at the book on the floor. He nudged it nervously with his foot, newly cautious of the seemingly harmless, if now slightly battered, looking volume.

"And why would that bother me? It hasn't shouted at either of us yet or tried to bite me. That can only be good." he asked tentatively, nonchalantly sliding onto the arm of another chair further away from the book. Remus chuckled darkly.

"I took it out in your name. Told Madam Pince that you were stuck in bed with a bad case of scrofunglus and I was forcing you to do your homework." The look of pure horror on Sirius' face almost made up for the bright light pouring in through the windows burning into his skull, Remus decided happily.

"Why? Why would you do that?" Sirius exclaimed, scooping up the book with one hand and desperately trying to straighten out the bent edges of the cover from where it had collided smartly with the wooden leg of the armchair.

"Had a feeling I might need something to throw at you while I was recovering" Remus muttered, closing his eyes again and waving his wand randomly in the direction of the drapes, hoping to somehow close them. A vase flew off the fireplace and shattered loudly on the hard marble below, drawing an annoyed groan from Remus. The light dimmed considerably as the drapes were flung shut, and opening one eye to peer over from where he half sat, half lay, the pale and drawn looking boy saw Sirius standing next to them, arms folded. He shut his eye again defiantly and drew his cloak around himself tighter.

"So are you going to stop pouting and rest properly now, princess?"

"Shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you, Padfoot" Remus growled back, curling his legs up onto the chair and settling into the soft fabric. Sirius laughed, reaching out a hand to gently slap the other boy around the head as he walked back across the common room from the window.

"Ah, you're so cute when you know I'm right. Don't you dare get up from there or I will honestly drag you down to the hospital wing myself. You should really be there today anyway, and you know it." Sirius said as he sank down into his armchair again, reaching down to dust off the book that lay sadly on the floor again. He smiled as Remus grunted in reply, and unfolded a highly creased muggle magazine from his much abused school bag that hung on the wing of the chair, keeping an eye turned towards the figure that lay across from him.

Only twenty-nine days to go until they had to start this all over again.

Because why not xD
