This is just a one shot of a small Hermione and Ron moment I wrote because I get way too bored. I hope you enjoy my fanfic. Please please please tell me what you think. Thanks! ^_^
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters from that amazing novel.
Hermione's POV
It was just before twelve o'clock when I finally dragged myself from my dormitory. I was still a bit groggy and not thinking quite straight. After several failed attempt to squeeze my massive amount of wavy golden brown hair into a rubber band that I'd found under a stack of old parchment and broken quills, I quit the impossible task before I could get too aggravated as I usually do when I'm this tired. I threw the rubber band into a corner of the dorm room and walked toward my trunk, a bit flustered. I got dressed in my favorite stripped sweater, jeans with holes in both knees, and my Gryffindor hat and scarf before heading down to the common room.
There were almost no students there. Only those who were completing homework or preferred the comfort of the common room rather than the mysteries in the corridors at Hogwarts stayed holed up in here at this time. Studying all night had definitely taken a toll on me but it was well worth the good grades. They were the only things that really separated me from the other girls here at Hogwarts. While they played with love potions and experimented with kissing, I could always be found sitting in a cozy chair by the fire reading books and gaining knowledge.
It was a Saturday so no one had classes today. Ron and Harry had no doubt gone to quidditch practice early. They were so dedicated to that game, I thought fondly. Just as I was opening today's copy of the daily prophet, Ron and Harry burst through the portrait hole laughing merrily.
"Hey there Hermione. Practice went well; I'm going to go upstairs to change out of these wet clothes". Harry explain as he climbed the stairs that led to the boys dormitories.
I noticed that the snow was falling pretty heavily today. That would explain why his clothes were soaked through. Ron had apparently brought an extra set of clothes to the quidditch pitch and had changed there. "I'll see you in a bit mate!" Ron called after Harry just as he disappeared from view.
I turned to look at Ron and was immediately locked in his gaze. His intense, clear blue eyes seemed to soften as he looked at my light brown ones. I looked over his features, his long nose, freckled cheeks, slightly muscled arms, and blazing red hair went together perfectly. He was very handsome. I noticed that I had been staring and looked away quickly, blushing as I did so. He looked away as well and his face flushed almost as red as mine.
He coughed nervously and handed me a worn old book, "I know you wanted to read this book on elemental magic and while I was in the library yesterday, I saw it stuffed underneath one of the shelves." He smiled then and it nearly broke my heart. "Thank you. I can't believe that you, Ronald Weasley would step foot in the library if not forced." I smiled openly now. "Yeah, dreadful place really." He replied. We laughed together at this. Just then it struck me how such a simple gesture could mean so much to someone.
At that moment Harry came running down the steps. "You guys ready for some early lunch?" he asked. Ron grinned as he said, "It's about time! I'm starving here!" I nodded my okay and we headed for the portrait hole with smiles on our faces. This is where I am truly happy. This is where I belong.
