Harry yelled out in pain. Not physical pain, but pain of the heart. His heart was shattered. His wife, his best friend, his soul mate . . . was dead. Her beautiful brown eyes shined no longer, they were empty. He brushed her hair gently out of her face as tears streamed down his own, mixing with the blood that flowed from his forehead. It was his fault this happened. He had to of done something wrong. The magic involved was too much for her. It was his fault she was dead.
They came down to this place, deep beneath Potter Manor to destroy that... thing.
Harry tore his eyes away from his wife, and towards the small crib by her feet. A small, uncrying newborn baby laid there. A girl. Ginny was dead because of this girl. Because of this thing. Harry's eyes wondered over to the table beside him and saw the large knife laying there beside the serpent bracelet that was meant to contain it.
His soul mate was dead.
In an impulse driven rage he grabbed the knife and swung the knife down upon this monster that killed his wife. This thing that was the reason for the pain he felt. The object for his revenge. Red eyes from a time long past burned in his mind. The crimson eyes of the blood of his loved ones. But he froze. The infant stared at him, her eyes wide open. They were not the red of the demon from his past. They were his own green eyes staring up at him. The eyes of his mother. The eyes of his child.
Harry's body shook as the tears returned. The knife slipped from his fingers and he sank to his knees. "I am so sorry Ginny. I am so sorry for this. . ." He stayed there, crying for what felt like hours before he stood again and looked at his daughter. Upon her tiny head was black raven hair like his own. Her emerald eyes a shined exactly like his. Gently he picked her up and craddled her to his chest. "I will protect her Ginny. I will give her the life he never had. She will know happiness, and she will grow into a strong, accomplished witch. I will give her the second chance at life he never had. I swear to you this Ginny. . ." He glanced once again at his wife, even from the violent death that just befell her, she was still the most beautiful creature he had even know. "I love you Ginny." Spoke Harry, softly, and then placed a kiss upon her head.
At a slow pace he left the chamber room, making his way up the dimly lit stairway. Craddling his child closer with every step.

Harriet sat upon her bed, playing with her amulet that hung upon her neck. Her father told her years ago that this amulet belonged to Salazar Slytherin, and it came into his possesion during the Second Great War. It was beautiful, and brought her comfort whenever her mind was uneasied. Like tonight. Soon they would be recieving their Hogwarts letters. While she was excited to go to Hogwarts, she scared as well. While she never truly quarreled with her siblings, she knew her older brother and sister, Lily and James, were not too fond of her. James blamed her still for the death of their mother because she died so soon after her own birth. Lily did not hate me as much as James, but she still was upset at the fact that she did not have a mother because of her. She hated herself as well for it. If she had not been born they would still have a mother. . .
But Albus and her father loved her. Albus adored her, as did her father. And her father did an amazing job raising them even without a proper mother. He never remarried or dated. He left his job as an Auror to care for them. He stayed home with them, tutoring them, dwelved into the world of experiemental magic and became a bookworm. Her father also, most likely because of the loss of his wife, traveled into the world of Dark Magic, and actually led the change for certain legislation on Dark Magic regulation. Showing the Magical World that some things that were "Dark" were not as evil as people believed it to be, and that Light and Dark magic was not as simple as spells that helped and spells that harmed. He was a powerful figure in the Wizarding World, having afterwords gained the respect of Light and Dark families alike, and with the Unspeakables pushed for more research into magical fields that were previously ignored. Her father even created Magical Orphanages for children all over the world. And the year after her brother Albus went to Hogwarts, her father because professor of the Dark Arts and 2 years ago was made Head of Slytherin House after the last professor retired. Her father had changed drastically from the person her aunts and uncles told her about. But she liked her father now more than the stories she was told. He was now brave and cunning, adventurous and ambitious, aristocratic and warm hearted. He was perfect to her.
Pulling out of her thoughts she looked at the serpent curled upon her lap. While the rainbow bow was not her familiar, they still shared a strong bond together and were connected together by magic. But the connection was mostlikely due to the fact she was a Parselmouth like her father before her. Another reason her eldest brother did not like her. Because of her gift, Walburga Black's portrait and the Black Family Magic recognized her as her father's heir to the Black house. Her father was Lord Black, along side being the lord of several other houses. While heirs for those houses had not been declared yet, the Heir to the Potter house was James. He blamed her for taking away the chance at being Lord Black as well. Her father was made Heir through Sirius Black, his godfather. Sirius had magically and through blood ritual named Harry as his heir to the Black Family. And because of the fact Sirius was able to claim an heir, he was no longer disowned from the Black Family since he had secured the Family's future. Family Magic triumphed over the petty disowning spell Walburga attempted to use on her son. Walburga, thankfully, took a liking to her and was the only person, aside from her family since he was Lord Black, whom she would not attempt to kill with her screams when they entered the house.
She smiled as her serpent friend looked up at her.
'Why are you not asleep mistress?' The serpent inquired. Night was in fully bloom at Potter Manor. The moon had risen high into the sky and its light iluminated the room.
'I cannot sleep Enfys. I am excited and scared, for soon we should be recieving our Hogwarts Letters.' She spoke quitely.
'You must not let the grumpy hairless monkey bother you with it. He is jealous, as he should be of my mistress.' Harriet could not help but chuckle at her serpent's nicname for her James. Enfys was about 6 feet long, rather impressive for a rainbow boa, but the largest have reached 7 feet in length. He was maroon with black diamonds going down his body, and it also shown with the colours of the rainbow. It was not an overbearing shine, but subtle.
Harriet laid back down, her eyes looking out towards her large windows. Enfys slithered upwards so be was drapped over her shoulders and chest, his head coming to rest by her hands. Stroking the serpent, Harriet drifted slowly off to sleep.
Morning came, and normally Harriet would be awoken by a house elf of peacefully on her own. But no . . . today was not the day for that. Instead Harriet was forced awake by the loudest banging on her door that surely should have broken the door down if it was not magically reinforced. Still half asleep, she wondered over to the door, and as soon as she turned the handle to open it, the door swung open and she was engulfed in a bone crushing hug.
"Albus, are you trying to crush me to death?" She asked, holding back her laugh and hugging her brother back gently.
"No! But today is an exciting day!" Albus exclaimed. "Come! We must go to the Dining Hall!" Albus grabbed her hand and began to drag her down the stairs to the first floor.
"Albus I am not even dressed and you are going to pull my arm off!" But Albus did not listen, instead quicked his pace until they reached the dining hall. There at the head of a long table sat their father, Harry Potter. He was dressed in a simple black wizarding robe and reading the Daily Prophet. In front of him laid 2 letters. Albus grabbed one and shoved it into his sister's hand. Lily, whom was also present at the table, already had an open letter in front of her. Her father's eyes rested upon her as she carefully opened her letter and read her letter outloud.

Lily, Albus, and Harry erupted in claps, even a house elf Thia, who came to put more food on the table gave her congratulations to her young mistress.
"And as per family tradition," their father spoke as the claps ceased, "Harriet, today me and you shall go to Gringotts."
"She will get the Heir Ring to the Black Family?" Lily inquired of her father.
Harry nodded. "As did James recieved his heir ring to the Potter Family when he got his Hogwarts letter, as did my father before me, and his fathers before him."
"I thought only boys could be the heirs to the family?"" Lily continued on with her questioning.
"In many cases, most families will chose a male heir, however there is no law or rule about it. It is just lingering Sexism that linger within the world from the patriarcal led world of the past. The wizarding world has however, not been against the Matriarcal leading of its families and societies, it just has not been the norm."
"So when I get married, will my husbands name be Potter-Black, or just Black?"
"They will just have the name of Black, however Harriet, in the case of a women as the head of the family, you have several options for when you marry. You can be refered to as Grand Lady Black, and your husband as Lord Black. It could just be Lady and Lord Black. They could take a title of Consort Black. They can also retain their own family name. Lets say they were a Malfoy. If they were to be your husband, you could be named Lady Black, and they Lord Malfoy. You could be mix titles and merge the familys into the Malfoy-Black Family. The hyphenation does not have to change, but lets say when you are going to be formaly referred to, you will be address as either, Heiress Black, or Heiress Potter-Black of the Black family, which indicates you are the heiress of the Black Family and will be its Head on day, but also says that you a member of the Potter family, and could under the right circumstances take over as Head of that family if the Heirs who have claim before you die or reject the claim."
"I did not realize I had so many options."
"Yep. Now come and lets go to Gringotts. They will also be formally changing your name once the ring excepts you." Her father got up, and then realized his daughter was still in her pajamas. And with a silent wave of his wand, her night gown turned into semi-formal wizarding robe. "There we go Harriet, now, let us be off to Gringotts." With a soft farwell to her brother and sister, she grabbed onto her fathers arm, and in almost near silence, they were gone.
