SIRE'S PROTECTION
AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER
Takes place during "Disturbing Behavior" and alludes to past abuse. Vampire Diaries belongs to L.J. Smith and the CW. I only own the stuff that's not in the show.
Katherine's eyes clouded as she made her way to Gloria's Bar. She had followed Klaus, Stefan, and Rebekah here as she had decided to keep an eye on the younger Salvatore. She didn't want to admit it, but she was worried. She knew that the younger Salvatore was trying to play the part of a Ripper while holding onto his humanity so that Klaus wouldn't find out that Elena was still alive. And that wasn't an easy thing and she had a feeling that he was on the verge of losing it. And besides, she wanted to see what his "Diabolical plan" was since he had refused to tell her. Not that she could really blame him. She had made his life miserable in the past. Well, more Elena's than his, but that was just schematics. As she made her way into Gloria's Bar, her ears picked up the sound of him screaming. Instantly, she could feel her ire rising. Who was hurting Stefan? Whoever it was, she'd kill them! She always had been protective of those she had Sired, though she felt more protective of some than others and Stefan was one of those. And since someone was hurting Stefan, she was going to make sure that they paid dearly for it. As she entered a room, she silently grabbed a knife, taking in the scene. A spell. Gloria was using a spell on Stefan. This is unacceptable, she thought to herself. Then, the witch made a comment about the Doppelganger being alive when she was supposed to be dead. Katherine's eyes darkened as she laughed. This was information that she wasn't about to let Klaus have. At least…not yet. If she ever needed it for leverage, she'd tell the Original, but she wasn't going to let some freaky witch who was manhandling one of her boys deliver the news.
"Well, this is creepy," she said and then jammed the knife into the witch's neck. She then turned to the younger vampire. "Maybe you do need my help after all," she commented. She then proceeded to untie Stefan and pull him off of the altar. He fell to the ground with a groan and she bit into her wrist, tearing the flesh and then offered it to him only to have him turn away. "Oh, don't be a baby," she snapped and brought the wound to his lips, wincingly slightly as he drank. When he had his fill, he pulled away and she quickly got his shirt and handed it to him. "You okay?" she asked, her voice softening.
"I'm fine. What do you care?" he asked gruffly as he put the shirt back on.
"I told you. I look out for you," she answered, helping him to his feet. "And I know how you feel about being tied up," she continued.
"Let's not get into that," he commented as he headed for the door.
"Stefan," she said, matching his stride.
"Look, I'm grateful for the help but that doesn't mean I wanna rehash the past," he told her giving her only the briefest glance. However, that fleeting eye contact told her all that she needed to know.
"You're doing that eye-darting thing you do whenever you're freaked out," she reminded him.
"Don't pretend like you know me," he snapped. "Yes, being tied down brought back bad memories but I'll be fine," he told her.
"Stefan-" Katherine began to interject.
"You screwed with my head, Katherine. You compelled me to keep quiet about our relationship. You're just a big a monster as Father ever was," Stefan interrupted, causing the other vampire to fall silent. Yeah, okay, she could see how he'd make the correlation between them given the circumstances.
"I'm sorry," she murmured. She had to admit, she felt bad for the way she had left the two. But she had had to run. Klaus had found her. But that was then and this was now. And she'd do everything in her power to make sure that Stefan wouldn't lose himself. She was his Sire and she'd do anything to protect him…even face Klaus.
THE END
