Because it's us

It was just them

Sara shook her head, it was never going to work and for past hour and half she had stated that until she was sure her face was blue with trying.

"Stop it" he finally broke through her thinking and she smiled up at him from her lonely seat on the rocking chair.

"What… I stopped complaining" Sara offered as her husband shook his head and gave her his famous smile that resulted in her legs turning to jelly.

It hadn't always been like that… for the most part she could resist that smile. At the beginning when his true feelings scared her she would just past the smile off as something to distract her, keep her from becoming a workaholic once more.

But he had found away to keep coming back, he had made it so she didn't run away every time. She loved him for that and when they exchanged their 'I do's' she knew she wasn't going to stop loving him for that.

"But darlin' I can read your face… it's going to be fine, I swear" he offered as he stood proudly before his work.

"I know… but pink, bright pink" she questioned her eyebrow arching while her husband shook his head once more and moved over to her.

He had made his way into her heart and through the nightmares and the doubts he had stayed with her and kept her in place.

If he hadn't she wouldn't be here now questioning his choice in colours. She loved him for that… she loved him because he had made an 'us' out of them.

"how bout you go watch or read something and I'll give you a call when I'm all finished up in here" he offered in his easy drawl, something he knew she couldn't withhold against. Smiling she allowed him to pull her up before she gave him her best pout.

At first she hated the fact that he knew how to press her buttons… how easy it came to love her and it scared her how easy it came to love him. How easy it was to turn to him for comfort but now she would never give up the easy nature of it all.

Sighing she allowed him to push her out of the door and she made her way to the family room completing just when they had become an 'us' and when she stopped being so scared of it.

It had been three hours before he made good on his promise, three hours of dozing on the sofa before Sara was awoken by a lingering kiss.

"You ready sunshine" he questioned as Sara pulled her self up and followed him to the room she had left three hours ago.

She gasped upon seeing his finished work… it was still pink but with the painted pictures of clouds, fuzzy bunnies and teddy bears it didn't seem half as bad as it did three hours ago.

"Didn't I tell ya it would be ok" he questioned wrapping his arms around her waist, protectively proving she was his.

"Fine… you were right cowboy" Sara had to admit defeat even though she would make him pay… she always did.

"Look darlin' I know this isn't us… we don't do pink" this gained a chuckle from Sara who lent back into his arms and sighed.

"But this" Sara couldn't wipe the smile from her face as his hand found its way to her swollen stomach "is us" he finished as Sara nodded.

It didn't matter when they became an 'us' because the moment she discovered two was going to become three she knew she wasn't alone anymore.

"Fine, because it's us" Sara turned in his arms and kissed him soundly on the lips letting his hand snake between them to rest over the growing life in her mothers stomach.

"I'll learn to love pink" Sara offered watching the smile spreading across his face, things like pink or his overprotect ness or his need to prove she belonged to him didn't matter anymore because between the pair of them they had made an 'us'.

Because the baby growing in her stomach was as he put it 'us'

The End
