Do You Measure Up

Author's Note:

A brief glimpse into Miaka's thought process during the last few episodes of the TV series. This is really not meant to be a congruent story, but rather bits and pieces of what Miaka might be thinking.

If one day you discover him
Broken down he's lost everything
No cars, no fancy clothes to make him who he's not
The woman at his side is all that he has got
Why do you ask him move heaven and earth
To prove his love has worth?

How did he get here?

How did he make it into my world?

Yui sent me back, but how did he get here?

Tamahome… did you do this just for me?

Would he walk on water
Would he run through fire
Would he stand before you
When it is down to the wire
Would he give his life up
To be all he can
Is that how you measure a man?

I've seen you risk your life for me.

I know that you would die for me.

Now you've crossed worlds for me.

Why would you do this all for me?

Tamahome it can't work,

You're just a character in a book…

If by chance all he had to give you
Was three words wrapped around his finger
Would that be deep enough at the end of every day
And how will you ever know
If a man is what he says?

You've fought for me.

You've rescued me too many times to count.

I want to be your wife.

I want to work this out.

I bought these rings for us my love.

Lets get married now my love.

I can't live without your love…

He never gives up
That broken dream
His world goes around in wonder it seems
Is that how you know
Is that what it means?

When I thought that you were dead

I really thought my world would end.

I almost gave up. I couldn't fight.

I had no will to continue.

Would he give his life up
To be all that he can
Is that how you measure a man?

Then I found the strength again.

I called out to you,

I knew you'd win.

You'd never let me down again.

And we'd finally be together in the end.

Would he give his life up
To be all he can
Is that how your measure a man?
