I DO NOT OWN STAR WARS. STAR WARS IS OWNED BY GEORGE LUCAS

Okay so…recently I have gotten into the Star Wars universe and I have been missing out all these years. For some reason I got into Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels and fell in love with it, which made me curious for everything else Star Wars. I watched all six movies and watched season one of Star Wars Rebels.

Now I'm even in the middle of reading A New Dawn and I just love Kanan's character so much! I feel like I can connect with his character a lot, which is why I literally just started to aimlessly write something. I started to write this after watching the episode, "Path of the Jedi." This episode just really spoke to me and a lot of what Kanan says makes total sense, so I just went with what I had in mind and started to write.

I have been working extremely hard on this because Kanan, Star Wars and that particular episode just really speaks to me. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have writing it!

ENJOY!

XOXOX

It was the day after they visited the Jedi temple. Through out the day, Kanan noticed that Zeya was not herself. She was much slower than usual, her reflexes were not there like they usually were and she just seemed to be extremely tired. She was too tired to function normally and Kanan was concerned.

And at the end of the day, Kanan brought it upon himself to consult Hera about how Zeya has been.

And after a long talk, they both agreed that it would be best for Zeya to take a day or two to rest.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Kanan asked Zeya as he sat down next to her.

"Extremely tired Kanan! I know that sounds wimpy…but…"

"That is not wimpy Zeya. You and Ezra went through a lot yesterday…probably more than you can handle. And on top of that, your powers are growing so quickly that I feel like I can not train you fast enough, which is why I talked to Hera and we both feel it would be best if you take a day or two to rest." Kanan told her as she looked at him rather oddly.

"Really!?" Zeya asked as she continued to look at Kanan.

"Yep, maybe we can even catch up on some training…you know…just you and me." Kanan suggested as Zeya looked at him with one eyebrow raised.

"I thought you said I needed to get some rest?" Zeya asked.

"Eh, a little training never hurt anyone. Goodnight Zeya. Get some rest." Kanan softly told her while he gave her a kiss goodnight.

"Goodnight Kanan." She said as he walked out of the room and left her to sleep.

. . .

The next night Zeya woke up in the middle of the night back in her own bed with Kanan next to her. He was still asleep so she thought she would not wake him as she went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, that and to maybe just think for a while.

She leaned against the railing when Kanan walked up behind her.

"You okay?" He asked while he wrapped his arms around her.

She did not say anything right away. Instead, she stood there and enjoyed Kanan's company. In fact, she found herself leaning into him as she lovingly placed her hands on top of his. She was just so comfortable that she did not want to move or speak. She just wanted to enjoy his company. However, that was not going to last long as Kanan started speak.

"Is there something bothering you? You have been quiet and rather distant all day today." Kanan asked as she broke out of his arms and just started to walk aimlessly around the patio.

"I am fine Kanan." Zeya softly said, even though she knew Kanan knew better.

"No you are not. There is something wrong with you…I can sense it. Whatever is going on with you, you need to spill. Sometimes…we need to let our guard down. I know I had to learn to do so…"

"I experienced every single one of my fears yesterday inside that Jedi temple…even right down to watching you die…and…there was not anything I could have done about it." Zeya softly explained as she turned around to face Kanan.

"I told you, you would be tested…"

"Yeah, but you never told me what for!"

"Sometimes…you do not have to know everything." Kanan said rather calmly.

"My father was a Jedi…Kanan. He was killed when the Empire wiped them all out. And when I watched the Inquisitor kill you, even though it was just an illusion…I freaked out…I panicked. The thought of loosing you killed me!" Zeya cried when she looked at Kanan as a small tear rolled down her cheek.

"I am afraid Kanan! I am afraid of everything…I am especially afraid of losing YOU!..."

"And admitting that makes you braver than most. The path of being a Jedi is never easy. With everything that has happened in my life…I still have always trusted in the Force…even though there has been times where it has been impossible to do so. I know the path of a Jedi is never easy…but…I know that…I have always known that…I have experienced it! But still…now…I sense that it is a path I must follow." Kanan said while he trailed off from his own thoughts and placed a loving hand on Zeya shoulder.

Zeya sighed deeply while Kanan stood there next to her as they leaned against the railing and gazed out over the vast landscape of Lothal.

"I must admit, I was rather surprised when you and Ezra came back with a lightsaber crystal yesterday." Kanan said with a chuckle, which made Zeya smile for whatever reason.

"And to think you never wanted to train me when you first met me…"

Kanan sighed.

"It was not that I did not want to train you…I was already training Ezra…I…I just thought that maybe Master Luminara would have been able to train you much better and could have given you undivided attention. I've never considered myself a Jedi Master, but…here I am now training you and Ezra." Kanan explained with a heavy heart, but when he looked over at Zeya, he was surprised to see her sill smiling.

"But…are you not glad you stuck with me?" Zeya asked as she pulled out her lightsaber crystal from her pocket to show Kanan.

"I know I am. Without you…I would never have been able to find this crystal. Thank you for being such a great Master! I am glad you never gave up on me!" Zeya excitingly said as she flung herself into Kanan's arms and laid her head against his chest.

At first Kanan was taken back by Zeya's words and actions, however he ignored his own feelings and held her tightly in his arms.

"You are welcome. You will become a great Jedi." Kanan softly told her as he gently placed his pointer finger under her chin.

"Only because I have a great Jedi Master to train me." Zeya told him kindly when Kanan lovingly brought her lips up to his.

When there lips finally touched, Zeya could feel Kanan tighten his grip around her. When she felt him tighten his grip around her, she found herself kissing him even more deeply, more passionately. It was just nice to be able to kiss him, to just be around Kanan without being surround by the whole crew. However, she could feel their kiss slowing down to an end.

"I have to admit…it is rather nice being alone with you…without being surrounded by everyone else." Kanan told her while he laced his fingers through her hair.

She smiled and chuckled softly.

"I know…it is nice." Zeya said before she stopped talking in the middle of her sentence to only lay her head against his chest.

"Master and Padawan…

"Boyfriend and girlfriend." Kanan added as he could feel Zeya smile while she laid against him.

"Yes…"

There was a long, long pause before Kanan broke the silence that surrounded them after Zeya agreed with him.

"You know…I never really had a chance to ask you…how do you feel? You know…after yesterday?" Kanan asked.

Zeya looked at him rather oddly…almost as if she was searching for something to say. But then, she quietly broke away from him. And the second she did, she just started talking.

"It is strange Kanan. After facing and surviving every one of my fears yesterday within that Jedi temple…I feel…different…yet…I somehow feel the same. Is that strange?" Zeya asked as she looked over at Kanan, almost as if she were waiting for the "ok," to feel how she felt.

"No." Kanan started to say while he walked up over to her and joined her while she leaned against the railing.

"Because I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way too." Kanan explained while he tried to reassure her that it was ok for her to feel how she felt by placing his hand on top of hers. And just by the slightest touch from Kanan's hand, Zeya flashed a warm smile over towards him. Then, she just started to talk again.

"You know, ever since I've been home and I have had time to think…I just can not help but to fantasize and wonder about what else is inside that Jedi temple? What else if there to discover?..."

"NOTHING! There is nothing left to discover. I know what is in there…THE PAST!" Kanan said rather abruptly as he thought about his conversation he had with Master Yoda within that Jedi temple.

Then suddenly, he walked away from Zeya without saying a word to her, which made her wonder what that was all about.

However, she knew her limits with Kanan.

She knew when she could go after him and talk to him and now was not one of those times. She knew he was being serious…and for some reason he was also being secretive, she could feel it.

That was why she just let him walk on.

A few minutes have gone by and Zeya decided to walk back inside. And yet, Kanan was nowhere to be found. She did not bother to search for him because she knew he would return.

She did have to admit that it was rather strange without Kanan. Zeya could not help but to think to herself as she laid down in bed. But just as she was about to close her eyes, she heard him walk through the house and down the hallway that led to her room.

"Hey…are you asleep?" Kanan asked.

"No, I was just lying here." Zeya said in rather a short tone that Kanan caught onto rather quickly.

"Look…Zeya…I am extremely sorry I walked away like that…"

"It is okay Kanan. You do not have to explain anything to me…I get it." She explained as she rolled over to face him.

"I do not think you do." Kanan told her while he brought her lovingly into his arms.

"You do not think I caught on to how you reacted when I started to talk about something from the past!? Kanan…we ALL have a past that we do not want to think about!" Zeya said rather abruptly while she broke out of his arms so that she could now face him.

Kanan fell silent for just a few seconds, but then started to talk softly.

"I know. It is not just that…"

"Then what!? Why did you walk away like that? Kanan…I know you are extremely secretive…but…I…I just want you to know that you can trust me…you can tell me anything!" Zeya said while she tried to reassure Kanan that she would listen to anything that he told her.

She placed a loving hand on his shoulder, then the unthinkable looked like it was about to happen. It actually looked like Kanan was about to talk. That was not something that he did very often…if not ever. For some reason, Kanan was very secretive and Zeya could not believe that they were actually about to have a serious conversation.

This was nice to actually sit down and talk to him…for once.

"When you were going on and on about the temple…I panicked. It just brought back everything. While I was waiting for you to return…I had a chance to think about everything. For the longest time…I lost my way. I had to in order to survive…to live under the radar of the Empire…so they would never figure out that I was a Jedi who survived Order 66. I did not bother them and they did not bother me. I lived that way for the longest time…then…I met Hera…then this crew, Ezra and you. While inside the temple…I realized I have one last chance to make things right. Then…right then and there I promised myself I would never let Ezra and you loose your way…not like I did. That is why I walked away. Everything just seemed to hit me all at once. I just needed to clear my head for a while." Kanan explained.

Zeya sat there quietly and just looked over at Kanan with the most sympathetic look on her face. It looked like it took everything that Kanan had to actually tell her the truth and to not be so secretive with her for once. She well understood now why he was that way, but she just hoped that he would not be that way with her from now on.

"I can not even imagine living your life in hiding like that. It had to have been difficult. But now…I know why you are so secretive all the time…"

"I almost have to be…to protect myself and anyone around me, and now to especially protect you and Ezra. It was not easy…trust me…but you do what you have to do in order to survive. You know that." Kanan said while he looked over towards her.

She did not say anything. She just shifted her eyes slightly away from him and softly chuckled…because she did know exactly what Kanan was talking about.

"The said this is, is that I do. But…now…we have each other." Zeya said while she lovingly placed her hand on his knee when he took her hand away and held it in his.

"We do." Kanan said while he just held her hand close to his chest.

He gently pulled her closer to him and softly kissed her on her cheek. It was just a soft, quick kiss, which was why Zeya started to slowly pull away when Kanan took by surprise as he kissed her more deeply. Before they knew it, Kanan gently laid on top of her and just ever so lovingly started to softly kiss her neck. He's kissed her before, but nothing like this. This was more intense, more passionate. She could feel it, yet…she just could not help herself from talking in the middle of it all.

"The Force is strong between us…is it not Kanan?" Zeya questioned softly.

Kanan stopped kissing her just so that he could look down at her. He did not say anything, however he just nodded his head.

"I knew it…I could feel it…"

"I could too. Even from the very first time I met you…when we saved you from the Empire." Kanan explained.

Zeya smiled.

She continued to smile as she could feel him lace his fingers through her hair. But then her face fell, which Kanan noticed rather quickly.

"But…I…I thought a Jedi was not allowed to love?" Zeya asked softly.

"The Empire pretty much wiped us all out. There are very few of us left…if any at all. Besides, that was only within the Original Jedi Order." Kanan explained.

Zeya sensed that Kanan was upset while he continued to talk about the Empire wiping out all of the Jedi, which was why she decided to bring him into her arms.

"I do not think it was a coincidence that you saved me from the Empire that day. I think the Force brought us together." Zeya softly interpreted.

Kanan chuckled as he sat up more so that he could now hold her in his own arms.

"Maybe…whatever it is…I too can feel the Force is strong between us." Kanan said as he gently caressed the skin of her cheek with the palm of his hand.

She smiled as she took his hand into hers.

"If I were supposed to be alone, to live me life in complete solitude like I have…maybe there was a reason why. If I never did…you would have never saved me from the Empire." Zeya softly explained while she laid her head against his chest.

"Come on Zeya…quite trying to analyze everything. It has been a long couple of days for you. You need your rest so that you can be focused if you want to train tomorrow." Kanan told her.

Without saying another word, Kanan rolled over so that he himself could go to bed. She did not know what it was that made her smile, but she just did. With Kanan lying down next to her, she just smiled. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think she would fall in love with anyone…especially not a Jedi Master.

Zeya still continued to smile to herself as she lovingly leaned over him so that she could kiss him goodnight.

"Goodnight…master." Zeya said softly to Kanan as she kissed him.

Kanan chuckled to himself as he liked how that sounded as she called him, "Master."

"Goodnight…Padawan." Was all Kanan said before they drifted off to sleep.

PS: LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

PLEASE NOTE: ZEYA IS CLOSER TO KANAN'S AGE…NOT EZRA! JUST WANTED TO MAKE THAT CLEAR!
