What's In a Name?

Author's Note: I'm assigning my students a project involving the meaning
of their names. This is something that hit me while I was preparing for
the assignment. It's not my first attempt at a drabble, but it's the
closest I've come to succeeding.
Feedback: I'm not going to beg for it, but it certainly would be
appreciated!
Little did they know when they selected it, how true it rang.
Brave firemen; a little boy rescued.
Brilliant surgeons; a broken body repaired.
Loyal friends; a shattered soul restored.
Joshua: God saves.
Little did they know when they selected it, what paths he would take.
Corporate counselor; greed enabled, legally.
Presidential wordsmith; purpose found, momentarily.
Beltway politician; idealism chiseled away, lost.
Samuel: God's word.
Little did they know when they selected it, the irony it held.
An awkward paternal relationship; a psyche wounded.
An unexpected love; a career changed.
An overwhelming diagnosis; a body compromised.
Josiah: God has mended.
