Something Worth Fighting For
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters Nora and Tyler, but I do own all of my OCs.
Tyler Gage has no idea how he could have gotten this lucky. He watches through the glass of the back door as his two older children, Brian and Annabeth play in the backyard with each other. Brian looks exactly like Tyler, except that he has Nora's eyes. He's been a Daddy's boy ever since the day he was born, especially since he's the oldest child also. Brian is about to turn five, almost ready to start school in a few months. Tyler and Nora's middle child, Annabeth looks like an exact copy of Nora, which Tyler is glad about. He knows that his daughter is going to be as beautiful as her mother as she grows up. At three years old, she has already won her father's heart and he vows to protect her from any harm, especially when she's old enough to date. Tyler's already started to prepare his protective father speech for when she goes out on her first date. The proud father smiles as he continues watching his children play outside in the yard. Life cannot get any better for him.
"I finally got Matthew to go down for his nap," Nora sighs as she comes up behind Tyler with the baby monitor in her hand.
Matthew is their youngest child, a four-month old baby boy that has just as much energy as his parents and siblings. Matthew is the perfect combination of Nora and Tyler, having Tyler's green eyes and Nora's colored hair. He certainly likes to make his presence known, as he is the most vocal out of the three children when they were that age.
"He just wants to be with Daddy, that's all," Tyler teases, which earns him a playful smack on the arm from Nora.
"You're terrible," she smiles before pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
Tyler returns the kiss before opening the door to the backyard and running over to his children. He scoops Brian up in his arms and dangles him by his feet, causing the four-year-old to laugh hysterically.
"Daddy, put me down!" Brian laughs as Tyler tickles along his son's ribs.
Tyler complies and flips his son over and sets him down on the ground before chasing Brian and Annabeth around the yard for a few minutes.
"I'm gonna get you, you little monsters!" Tyler playfully growls as he comes up behind his children and scoops them into his outstretched arms before pressing kisses to the tops of their heads.
"Daddy, can we play baseball now?" Annabeth questions, looking at her father with wide hopeful eyes.
"Of course we can, sweetheart," Tyler answers, ruffling his daughter's hair in the process.
He loves how his children like to play pretty much anything with each other. Annabeth will play sports and army men with Brian and Brian will play pretend and sometimes occasionally dress-up with Annabeth. Tyler goes and gets the foam bat he's teaching the kids to play baseball with and his glove. Annabeth takes the bat from her father before getting into her batting stance near the make-shift home plate. Tyler tosses the ball to her softly, not wanting to hit her with the ball or have Annabeth hit herself with the bat in the process. Annabeth succeeds in hitting the ball, so she starts to run to first base.
"Dad, I'm ready!" Brian shouts, motioning for his father to throw him the ball.
Tyler throws the ball and Brian catches it, only to find that Annabeth is already safe on second base.
"Nice catch, champ, but it looks like Annabeth was just a little bit faster than you," Tyler praises his son before motioning for Brian to take his turn at the plate.
Brian runs over and grabs the bat with a big smile on his face, loving every moment of hearing his father's praise.
A few hours later, after dinner and the kid's baths, Tyler sits on the couch with Matthew on his chest and Annabeth and Brian on either side of him. Baby Matthew is asleep on his father's chest and Annabeth and Brian are curled into their father's sides. Tyler wraps an arm around both of his older children as they watch an animated movie that all of the kids love while Nora's in the shower. He listens as his children excitedly talk about the movie and what they want to do with their parents tomorrow since both Nora and Tyler have the day off. Just listening to their excited voices and looking down at his adorable children makes Tyler's heart swell with love and pride once more. He knows he wouldn't trade this life for anything. Tyler Gage has finally found something worth fighting for: his family.
Author's Note: And that's it! My first story in the Step Up fandom. I just watched the movie for the first time about an hour ago, but I loved Tyler and Nora together so much that I had the idea for this story about three-fourths of the way into the movie. I hope you liked this, and I would love to hear some feedback from you all from reviews. Those are always appreciated, especially since I just started writing for this fandom. Also, if you liked my OCs and would want to see more of them, review letting me know you would like to read more about the Gage family. (I might end up doing a story of fluffy one-shots like this one if I get enough supporters for the idea.) Thanks for your support, and have a good day/afternoon/night. Hope to hear from you!
