Some of these words are lyrics from the song "hard on you" by Rob Thomas. The characters are not mine they are owned by DC. However everything else is my original writing.
It was just a letter nothing special or extraordinary about it, and yet it was so much more. What was special wasn't the letter itself but what was inside the letter. They had fought the other day over nothing in particular it was just one of their many stupid pointless fights over nothing. Ever since they had parted ways ever since he had moved on they hadn't been able to communicate able to talk without fighting or yelling. That was why the letter was so shocking it was an omission of sorts an apology and Dick couldn't believe his eyes as he read it. His incredulity growing with each word.
I know it is a lot to ask but please forgive me for being hard on you. You and me got so much to prove, you're the only the thing that I can't lose. Please forgive me If I've been hard on you. Forgiveness sometimes is the only thing you can do. I want you to know sometimes I fall apart cause it is all that I know. I know that it is not an excuse but it is the truth. Maybe the worst is the best I can do. That's just the way it is sometimes. So again please forgive me for being hard on you. You know sometimes I get lost in my blue and you are the only one who can pull me out of it. The only one who's ever been able to pull me out of it. You mean so much to me you have no idea. I love you. You are everything to me. I don't mean to be mean to you it's just its all I know how to be or do sometimes I don't know how to do anything else. Please forgive me. You have to forgive me. I love you.
Dick stared at the letter. Stared at its contents what it said. He couldn't believe it. Couldn't comprehend what it said. It wasn't possible that he had just read what he had just read was it? His mind was boggled he was unable to move speak or even think he was so stunned. All mental thought had stopped and had gone into trying to comprehend the letter. Again he stared at, read its contents, stared at it again, As if some new revelation would pop out at him. But nothing did it was just the same letter, the same contents he had read a few minutes ago. Surely there had to be some deeper meaning some hidden code? He read it several more times hoping for the same revelation when none came he placed it on the table and picked up the phone. He was done trying to decipher some hidden meaning. It was time for action.
"Wayne Manor." A familiar voice on the other end of the line answered. "Hello Alfred?" "It's Dick is Bruce there?" "Oh yes master Dick he's right here let me get him for you." He then heard Alfred calling for Bruce and then he realized he was nervous. Why was he doing this was he crazy? There were so many ways this could go horribly wrong. As he was picturing each and every one in his head a voice came onto the line. "Hello?" "Hello Bruce, its Dick." A moment's hesitation. "Dick, hi." With that Dick breathed a sigh of relief. The voice was warm and inviting not stern and hostile as he had feared it would be. Maybe what had been written in that letter was true. "I got your letter." "Oh good." He heard a sigh of relief on the other end of the phone. "Thank you." "it was great." Bruce asked him how he was and what he had been up to and Dick smiled. They were having a real conversation just like they used to. It was nice to have Bruce back, to have someone to talk to again. After all sometimes all you can do is forgive someone when they are hard on you.
