My pathetic attempts at poetry

Brokeback Mountain

2 boys

up on a mountain

one with rodeos and blue eyes

the other silent and quiet

It happened in a tent

one lonely cold night

while the sheep were away

love at first fight

The morning after it was decided

through denials and blushes

to keep it a secret

no one's business but there's

2 men

down from the mountain

one married in a church

the other in Texas fucking a rodeo princess

Four years past before they're together again

a wife sees the kissing

but she keeps her mouth shut

and still a secret's its being

A couple of girls one has

along with his divorced wife

the other birthed a boy

whose grandpa was ruining his life

A misunderstanding

from south to north he goes

and when he gets there

the divorce wasn't for him

Up north one stays

giving into long legs and bouncy breasts

back down south the other goes

using another man to patch his broken heart

2 grandpas

on the mountain, by the river

drinking from the same bottle

august jobs and mustaches

Old regrets, what they never had

tears and fists turn into an embrace

their last fight

"I wish I knew how to quit you!"

Years later, mail comes

with red letters spelling DECEASED

and a postcard with a bag of ashes

that never makes it to Brokeback Mountain

2 shirts

are all that's left

of 2 lovers

hanging inside each other
