47 was in a state where he thought he was finally going to crack. His problem, Nika. She was a distraction. He knew that deep in his heart, his cold, cold heart, that he had real feelings for her. She had been so kind to him; she treated him like he was a person, a human being, a friend. He had never felt that way before. No matter what he did he couldn't shake the feeling away. But he remembered what Diana had told him when he first became part of the Agency. "Distractions are not acceptable. Emotional connections are considered distractions." He had understood those words perfectly; she had pounded them into his head. But he was still confused. He knew what was going on. He knew that the feelings he had for Nika were fighting with his clone DNA, with the genes that made him what he was. His brain had been telling him what to do his entire life, but he had begun to listen to his heart. But when his heart told him how to feel, his brain told him the opposite.

Nika is your only friend, don't betray her trust. You need her. That's what his heart would say.

She's a distraction, get rid of the problem. Remember, distractions are not allowed. That's what his mind told him.

This constant conflict between his emotions and his psyche had begun to give him migraines, and also serving as a distraction. 47 couldn't have any more distractions. He needed to stop the problem, and he knew how to do it. But, the thought of it made him want to shoot himself in the head. The only way to stop his constant inner conflict was to kill Nika.
