Empire

I do not own Eragon, Eldest, or any of the characters mentioned in said books. I am not Christopher Paolini, nor am I associated with him or any of his affiliates.

This is, quite obviously, a continuation of the Inheritance series written by Christopher Paolini. Do not expect me to have his artistic talent, because I have it not. I have started this piece of fan fiction for a few reasons. First and foremost is that there are hardly any stories on this web site about the Inheritance series. Another reason is that out of the few stories that I have read, the characters have either been horrendously out of character (Arya coming on to Eragon and having sex with him before they became mates, or even started courting), lack of comprehension of the actual stories (giving a name to the first bonded dragon), and blatantly obvious grammar and spelling mistakes.

I am not saying that these stories are bad, but merely saying that I am quite frustrated with the lack of good fan fiction for Eragon and Eldest. Nor am I saying that I do not make mistakes. I am only human, after all, though I deem myself more observant to grammatical errors than most.

As you have probably figured out by now, this is an author's note. I felt a need to put one in at the beginning because I feel that a story is somewhat tarnished if much of the bottom of the page is devoted to notes and reviews. Do not mistake me, I greatly understand the importance of reviews, though I do not like to waste space in the story for them. It is a good sign if your review is not deleted, and I shall email you my response to your review as soon as my schedule lets me.

I am an avid Eragon/Arya shipper, first because the only other female that I actually considered was Nasuda, but was dismissed soon after. Second because I think that Eragon needs someone to confide in besides Saphira. Someone who is not afraid to follow him to Helgrind and kill the Ra'zac. Someone that he can love unconditionally without fear of rejection.

I shall not make Arya any more drawn to Eragon than she was at the end of Eldest. I will try to make her as close to the elf that she was portrayed to be in the books as I can. As a result, she shall continue to think of Eragon as no more than a friend until at least halfway through the story. This standby could change at any moment, but I will not have Arya starting out the story with romantic feelings for Eragon.

Anyways, I started this note as soon as I got my account, and I finished it about 1 day after. As such, I will do my best to have the first chapter of this story out as soon as I can, but I can not promise any exact dates. I shall try to make each chapter 10000 each at the least, so this will be a long story. As well, I will try to take the same pace as the actual books and not rushing through the chapter just so that I can get it posted. A major reason of this is because this story is not for the satisfaction of getting reviews alone, but trying my personal best to put out a story that reflects what Christopher Paolini has done.

On that note, I encourage you to read and review, and have a great time reading my upcoming fan fiction piece!
