A Terrible Tragedy

Beep, beep, beep.

The steady rhythm of the heart monitor meant his grossly mangled boyfriend was still fighting for life. He prayed to whatever ever Gods existed that his best friend would pull through this awful nightmare…

The solemn teen reflected back on the moment the car had swerved of the road and struck him down, breaking over half a dozen bones and leaving a massive crack in his skull. 'Low chance of survival', 'critical condition', 'coma'. Words that had been thrown around by the numerous doctors and nurses streaming in and out of the cold hospital room.

Beep… beep…

The heart monitor's chirping was becoming less frequent. A wave of medical professionals raced through the door, desperately attempting to save his life. Tears welled in his eyes at the scene unwinding before him.

"We're losing him." The lead doctor announced to no one in particular. And then it happened.

Beeeeeeeeeeep

The single, wailing note that signalled the death of his boyfriend.

Sobbing uncontrollably, he forced his way to the bed, scooping up a limp, lifeless hand in his own.

"Haru, no…"
