Tangerine

Summary: One of Nate's many odd loves for Vanessa includes her tangerine shampoo.

One of the many things that surrounded Nate Archibald as he watched Vanessa Abrams sleep was the scent of her signature tangerine shampoo.
It had a tropical feeling to it; the smell reminded him of his many summers in the Hamptons before all the Archibald family drama came into play. It reminded of the good times before things got complicated.
And with Vanessa, surprisingly, things were uncomplicated. She knew of his daily troubles and never wished to add anything onto them. She was gentle with him, comforting.
And it never hurt when he hugged her and took a big sniff of tangerine.
He thought she'd call him weird if he was ever caught smelling her hair, so he took the time in moments like these to take in the scent, and remember it always.
She slept soundly, not the one to toss and turn, but if he made as much as a peep, she would stir and he would jump back.
She wouldn't catch him. He found the fact that he loved sniffing her hair incredibly embarrassing. And if she awoke and saw him, he wouldn't know how to explain himself.
So he hopes that she stays sleeping. Just for now.
He needs to take in that scent of tangerine, that scent of comfort.
