Lauren: This is a Kouga poem, inspired after I watched episode 84. It's mainly about Kouga losing his pack and the promise he made to Ayame. If you haven't seen up to episode 83 – 84, then it contains very light spoilers. Enjoy and please review! A Moon's Rainbow By: Lauren

Long ago, a life was saved

And there, a promise was made

A smile that would last forever

Under the moon's rainbow One by one

My comrades fall

Their cries of agony

Filling the air

Blood mingled with the mud

Caking in their hair

Brown, black and crimson red

The colors fill the earth

They are my friends

They cannot fall

They cannot lose

They cannot leave me

Yet one by one they drop

Taking in their last bitter breath

With every painful movement

Their diamond eyes looking on into the sky

The moon is hung high above

Shining like a radiant pearl

A pearl among a sea of blackness

A pearl among a field of death

They are my brothers

My pack, my family

The only ones I've ever had

And now they're gone

They've returned to the earth

Lost in an eternal slumber

Their eyes forever closed

Their dreams forever shattered

All I seek now is my revenge

Justice to the one who took my brothers away

The one who reeks of death and despair

The one who cut their lives short,

Now once forgotten,

The moon's rainbow returns

With feelings sparked anew

She talked of a promise made on a starry night

I must deny this to her

I must lie and say I've forgotten

Because in my moment of revenge

I might take in one last bitter breath, just like my brothers

No one deserves the pain of losing someone they love

I know this hurt, this ache, greatest of all

And I could never stand to see the same heartbreak

In her eyes, caused by me alone

Even so,

She said she shall not forget

Even when the moon's rainbow fades and disappears

Her feelings shall not…

And neither shall the memories of my brothers…
