Garfield sat in his new room, feeling particularly sad today as he looked around at his new surroundings and sighed and sighed. His mother's passing had happened over three months ago to this date, but the pain in his heart still hurt as if it was a recent event. With another soft sigh, he looked at the unfamiliar walls of his three month older bedroom, and gently reached out to touch the blue colored walls. His sister had chosen the color for him, thinking that maybe the bright color would cheer him up a little.
"Garf?" The gentle voice, belonging to his big sister, tore him away from his thoughts. "Are you okay, Garfield?"
"Y-yeah." He lied, sniffling softly as he started wiping un-shed tears from his eyes.
Sensing the lie, Megan walked over to the slide of his bed and sat down next to him. With a soft sigh of her own, she turned to him slowly and took her little brother in her arms, holding him tightly and protectively. She knew that he was still hurting, but she didn't know how to help him while in this state. All she could really do was hold him and offer as much comfort as she could to him.
"We can talk about it if you want." She whispered, hugging him a little tighter and kissing the top of his head.
"N-no, I'm fine." Garf said, sighing heaving as he sank into the hug for a few moments before gently pushing out of it.
"OK, if you say so." Megan sighed, kissing his head and getting up from the bed. "Well, Conner and I will be downstairs if you need anything."
She turned slowly from him, hovering now in the air floating out of the door at a slow and steady speed, just in case Garfield would call out to her in the next few seconds. He didn't though, and instead laid back on the bed and shut his eyes to clear the tears from them. After a moment, he sat up quickly and called after his sister quickly.
"Okay... Love you Megs!" Garf called after her, feeling a certain heaviness in his limbs as he attempted to move quickly.
"Love you too." Megan replied, a gentle smile evident in her voice as she stopped floating and then walked down the stairs on her own.
Garfield smiled softly at the sound of her voice, laying back down now and listening to the sounds of his sister's gently falling steps. After Garfield couldn't hear the sounds of her footsteps anymore, he sat up quickly and went to his suitcase and took out a small picture frame. The picture in the frame was that of his mother, her bright smile being the same one that Garfield had sensed on Megan just seconds earlier. With a soft smile, he stroked an index finger down her face, and placed it on his night stand.
"I miss you mom... But don't worry. I have Megs and Conner to take care of me." He said, smiling softly as he got up and headed down stairs, leaving the photo and the blue walls behind.
It still hurt him to think about her, but things were getting better now, and with his sister there to help him along the way, he had a feeling that it wouldn't take long at all.
