Lost in the Dark

Summary: Naruto's lost in the darkness that he created. Kyuubi controls his body. They are locked up somewhere in Konoha, surrounded by barriers so they can't get out. That doesn't mean people can't get in.

Chapter 1

He was floating, like always, in the dark. He couldn't hear anything, couldn't see anything, couldn't smell anything, and he couldn't feel anything. It had been like this as long as he could remember. Maybe at one point he could see the colors that he knew were out there, hear the voices of others, maybe even smell something, but right now there was nothing… and he wouldn't give that up for anything.

He liked it here, it was safe here. He didn't care if he couldn't remember his name or what he looked like, as long as he was safe, he didn't care. So he continued to float.

Red eyes peered through the bars of the cell. There was plenty of room, but it was still a cell and Kyuubi, like all living beings, hated being imprisoned. It was better than being trapped within Naruto with the brat in control, however. Almost anything was better than that.

The first couple of years he had fought against the barriers, doing almost anything he could to break them, but they held fast, so he built up his chakra. Saving it. The day he tried to escape up releasing a strong blast of red demonic chakra was the day that they had put up chakra draining seals. He often wondered where the chakra went.

He grew somewhat content in the cell though. He was fed and people were too afraid to do anything to him, so he was mostly left alone. The one thing he hated the most was the boredom. Sometimes he would get visitors, like the old man who would stare at him sadly and sometimes talk to him. Other times it would be the silver haired man that had his headband over one eye, he wouldn't say anything, just stare. Aside from them, there were always the masked guards, the ANBU, who wouldn't say anything and wouldn't look at him.

Twelve-year-old Uchiha Sasuke sat in the academy room, ignoring everyone as usual. Class hadn't started yet so the students were talking to each other, making plans, etc.

Sasuke wasn't paying attention to any of them, instead his mind wandered to a blonde haired six-year-old who use to sit next to him. Uzumaki Naruto, if he wasn't mistaken, had disappeared three days after the beginning of their school year. Even though many people asked, an answer was never given. Most of the other students had forgotten, but Sasuke hadn't.

He remembered asking his parents about him, but his mother had just scowled and said to never mention that demon again, it was better off with him gone.

His brother's eyes had narrowed dangerously and he walked out, slamming the door shut as he went. Sasuke also remembered Itachi coming home in the middle of the night, drunk and hurt.

Itachi had disappeared the next few days. The next time Sasuke had seen him was when he woke up in the hospital with Itachi sitting at his bedside, ready to tell him that the clan had been killed.

He hadn't thought about Naruto since then, but earlier that day he heard two women talking about 'the demon.'

Where was Naruto? Was he even alive?

Sasuke sighed and turned his attention to the front as Iruka walked in. It was something to ponder on another day.

'No,' Naruto thought.

The darkness was fading, but he didn't want it too. He did his best to call it back to surround him and protect him, but he couldn't. This time it was fading for good.

Kyuubi screamed in rage. This couldn't be happening! Naruto was going to take over again, and soon.

Itachi looked into the cage; he was shocked at what he saw. Red and blue chakra was rising up from the small body. It was circling, like a dance, or a fight.
