Mermaid Princess

Chapter 1

It was early in the morning, and my alarm went off. Getting out of bed is so hard to do on Mondays! I look at my alarm and realized "OH CRAP! I'm late!" I swam out of bed as fast as my tail could carry me! I brushed my hair, grabbed my backpack and left with no hesitation.

"Hey Rina! Why are you in such a hurry?" asked Bea (my best friend)

"I woke up so late!" I said feeling flustered

"I told you to wake up early. You obviously didn't listen! Are you okay, I see bags under your eyes!" said Bea

"Yeah, yeah I get it alright! Miss goody-two-shoes!" Rina shot back

We arrived at school exactly on time. My teacher was named Mrs. Coral she is so strict but, I get good grades so at least I'm not on her bad side!

"Alright settle down!" she yelled "Today we are going to learn about your new tails!"

The thing is once in your life as a teen your tail changes from white (the color everyone has until their 13) to the color of anyone in your family chain! So my dad has a blue tail and my mom has a pink one so my tail could be any of those colors. The thing is I'm one of the youngest in my class so a lot of people already have their tail color!

But their are different mermaids. Ones called the mermaid princesses/princes! So instead of one color on their tail, they could have two! Or their powers are among the strongest ever seen! The best part are these mermaids have angel-like-wings! But the only difference is the wings have a special ena surrounding them which makes them water-proof! SQQUUUEEEE!

"So I know all of you want to be a mermaid princess/prince but, it is VERY unlikely! Mrs. Coral yelled

"Studies show it is about 1 in 10,000 chance. And about 99% of mermaids get their tails and powers from their parents." Mrs. Coral said

My birthday is in a few days. Good way to ruin my fantasy Mrs. Coral :/. I don't want anything special for my birthday but, all I want is this beautiful necklace. It had a pearl with gold surrounding it. Also few jewels and it is said that if you make a wish to it...all your dreams come true.

It is a day before my birthday and I'm freaking out! I can't wait any longer! I woke up and my mom was waiting at the breakfast table patiently. Her hair was a mess and I could tell she was up all night.

"Hey sweetheart! Since it's your birthday I got you this!" she smiled

She gave me a small red box with a golden bow tied neatly around the whole box. It was thoughtful of her to wrap it up so nice. I didn't even want to open it up.

I unwrapped the golden ribbon and set it down. The small box had a lid so there was no need to tear it open. I opened it gently and dug my hand inside. I felt a small chain. WAIT could it be?! Inside was the pearl necklace I wanted for so long!

I put it on as soon as I saw it. It perfectly matched my long smooth blonde hair (with bangs) and ocean blue eyes.

*Knock Knock*

It was Bea waiting for me to come outside to walk to school together.

"Hey! You ready birthday girl?" Bea said cheerfully

"You bet! Let's go!" I said back
