Disclaimer: Someday, Marvel, someday. But not today.
Author's Note: I'm warning you in advance. It's poetry, so I just want you to remember I already warned you. Consider this my disclaimer to any mental anguish you may experience as a direct result of my rhyming words. Thusly, I end my warning.
in the garden
in between the daisies
and in between the rose
bush, you sat so still, quiet
in a marble pose
i was new to that place
you sensed me standing near
you smiled at me, "come over,"
though i didn't dare
you still smiled and persisted
"this must be so unreal
when i first came i thought so too,
it all seemed so surreal."
i only gave a nod
didn't say a word
there were things i didn't say
you, somehow, must have heard
"we're here for you, you know,
we've all been through it too"
i knew it then; i know it now
in your mind, it was true
you figured it was over,
i didn't wanna talk
you gathered up your things,
turned a heel, began to walk
it was then i spoke up softly
no echo in that place
i mused a simple 'thanks a lot'
took time to watch your face
you didn't smile; you did not flinch
didn't roll an eye
just leaned in close to kiss my cheek
"Welcome to Mutant High."
