The rusty chains of the swing screeched throughout the deserted playground, ruining the blissful silence of twilight. The rain pelted downwards hard and fast, plastering the brunet's hair to his face as he kept up his swinging at a rhythmical, though half halfhearted pace.
Orange and pink fingers finally began to grasp at the inky black sky, signaling that morning was finally approaching. The young man rose up from the swing, leaving it to sway back and forth on it's own. He shoved his hands deep in his pockets and making his way towards the park gate, the worn toes of his boots scraping against the ground.
His destination of choice wasn't at all far from the park. He followed the tarmac path through the damp grass and muddy earth, back towards the buildings in the near distance. After crossing three streets and angering four grouchy taxi drivers, he made it. He stared up at the building.
It hardly seemed like your typical beacon of hope, but that was what it meant to him. The building was a depressing shade of brown, the windows weeping from water staining. The door, however, was securely locked, a buzzer system in place. He examined the peeling labels with names next to each button even though he knew that the person he needed wouldn't be in at this hour. He hung back, leaning on the grungy wall next to the door in wait, his eyelids occasionally threatening to droop shut. Luckily an early-rising business man soon came out of the building, so he could slip inside before the lock clicked shut. Once in the small, dingy foyer he shook rain droplets from his hair and clothes, fruitlessly wiping his face on a damp jacket sleeve as his other hand reached into a pocket and brought out a torn scrap of paper.
He studied it for a moment, then moved to press the button and summon an elevator to the ground floor, sick with excitement and fear as he thought about what was to come.
A/N: I've had this sitting around on my computer for quite a while now and I have quite a bit written, so here: have an introduction posted on a whim. I am going to be continuing my other Germany/Italy fic, Bloodlust, but it's been hard to find the motivation for it. :c This story here will have paranormal themes and all that other good stuff, so I hope you all enjoy it!
