A snippet leading up to the Easter holidays, set some time towards the end of season 20, when Mike was turning pudgy (no offense Mike, you're still gorgeous!), and his hair was getting a bit long and grey, yummy! Hope y'all have a good laugh=)
Michael Cutter contested that he was not at all bad looking for a man of his years. Yet, nevertheless, he had come to terms with still being a man of his years, who could do with some improvement in the fitness department.
He removed another small chocolate Easter egg from the dish placed on the side of his desk, before removing the foil packaging it was encased in, and putting it into his mouth.
Goddamn reporters.
He grumbled as he folded his news paper, and tossed the rustling sheets onto his desk in fury. The quick swipe of his throwing it had cut the stony silence of the room, drawing the uninvited intrigue of Connie and Lieutenant van Buren.
The two women exchanged troubled glances.
Van Buren was the first to speak.
"Everything alright, Mr. Cutter?"
He slid his fingers through his hair, leaning back in his chair in exasperation, before reaching for another handful of chocolate eggs. "They've done it again!"
"Who have done what?" Connie wanted to know, her doe-eyed expression revealing her concern.
"Those mush-heads down at the Ledger have spelled my name wrong," he spluttered with his mouth full.
"Oh." Connie stifled a laugh, resuming her reading of the case-file resting in her lap.
Van Buren rolled her eyes, thinking Mike's outburst childish and irrational.
"You know what they've called me?" He stood from his chair, his hands on his hips.
"Not Boomerang-Mike again?" Connie joked. "You really should blame the Aussies for that one."
"Michael Cuddler!" he read out to them. His eyes were like fire. "I mean, how incompetent can you get?"
"I completely agree with you, Mr. Cutter. A law-suit waiting to happen," Van Buren announced, although Mike could detect a pang of sarcasm in her tone. "But eating all that Easter candy won't help ya!"
"What, you saying I'm fat?" he demanded indignantly.
She looked over at Connie, who smirked back at her with a gleam of mischief.
Both women stood from their seats, and looked at each other knowingly.
"You know, that journalist could be onto something there," Connie said thoughtfully, as she started to make her way towards him. "You might be a very good cuddler Mike, and not even realise it."
"Let's just see how much of a good cuddler you are!" Van Buren joined in.
Both women had their arms out-stretched as they approached him.
"What are you ladies doing?" he asked puzzled. His eyes lit up with agitation when he realized what they were doing. "Oh no, you stop that right now! Keep away from me please!"
